Marlborough's four victories were in the order: Blenheim, Ramillies, Oudenarde, Malplaquet. Malplaquet was the hardest fought and, due to the high casualties the English suffered, Marlborough was forbidden to fight any more battles. Eventually his enemies in London were able to remove him from command.
