Although many people associate Idaho with potatoes it was nicknamed the gem state because it has an abundance of natural resources. Its capital city is Boise, which means the city of trees.

Idaho has also had populations of Bannock, Blackfeet, Coeur d'Alene, Kootenai, Northern Paiute, Palouse, Kalispell and Spokane Salish tribes.

In the early 1900's Basque immigrants came to Idaho to raise sheep and other herd animals in the hills surrounding Boise and Idaho still has a large, celebrated, Basque population.

Answer: Evel Knievel

In May 1975, Evel Knievel attempted to jump the Snake River Canyon on a steam powered, rocket, motorcycle. Although a malfunction prevented the success of this jump he was not harmed and the trick has become famous.
