Islam was founded five centuries after Christianism. Protestantism is of course one of the main branches of Christianity.

St. Jerome was an Apologist who was well known for the Vulgate, the translation of Bible into Latin.

Answer: The Althing of Iceland

The word "Althing" literally means National Parliament. It was founded in 930 C.E. in Iceland. The parliament was then moved to Reykjavic, the current capital of Iceland.

The idea that any place having a Cathedral is a city was formalized in 1535 when Lichfield was granted city status. However, in 1884, when the new diocese of Southwell was created, Southwell itself was *not* granted city status.

King Leonidas sent out 300 troops to combat Xerxes in the Bettle of Thermopylae. For the first two days, their strategy was effective, which killed about 20,000 of Xerxes' army. Unfortunately, the mountain track to the rear of the Spartans was directed to Hydarnes, a Persian General by a traitor named Ephialtes,who also wanted to fight for Leonidas.

Balmoral was the favorite summer royal residence of Queen Victoria. It was purchased by her consort Prince Albert.
