The Sistine Chapel was completed in 1483 but Michelangelo's painting was not finished until 1541. The Sistine Chapel was built to the exact dimensions of the temple of Solomon.

Answer: The Tempest

This was one of two November 1 opening nights for Shakespeare plays. Othello opened on 1st November 1604. Both were performed first at Whitehall Palace. Queen Elizabeth I did not live to see either performed.

Answer: The Stamp Act

The Stamp Act revenues were intended to defray the military costs of defending the colonists. The other three acts were all among the "Intolerable Acts". On November 1, rioters in New York lit a bonfire using the Governor's coach as kindling and burned the Governor in effigy.

Answer: George McClellan

Scott, knicknamed "Old Fuss and Feathers" because of his attention to detail, had a detailed plan to win the war. After firing him, Lincoln ended up implementing most of Scott's plan despite the opinion of many that Scott was already senile when his plans were made.

One terrorist and one guard was killed and one the other terrorist and two other guards wounded in the gunfight. The attack was on Blair House where the president was living while the White House was being rennovated.

Answer: The first hydrogen bomb was detonated.

The Bomb, codenamed Mike, was tested in the Bikini Atoll on Eniwetok Island. The musical South Pacific was filmed in Hawaii and not released until 1958.
