Gettysburg was an important battle during the Civil War. Valley Forge is where George Washington and his troops spent the winter of 1777-1778. Germantown and Brandywine were two battles in which Pennsylvania got invaded by the British in 1777.

The First and Second Continental Congresses met from 1774 and 1775-81. These meetings were held and the old Pennsylvania State House, now called Independence Hall. This is also where the Declaration of Independence was signed.
