On December 24, 1800, Napoleon and his wife Josephine managed to escape the attempt known as the Plot of the rue Saint-Nicaise. Napoleon eventually had the conspirators either exiled or guillotined.

Answer: They were the governor and former governor of Puebla, Mexico.

Martha Érika Alonso Hidalgo was the first female governor of Puebla at the time of her death. She was only ten days into her term when the crash took place. Her husband Rafael Moreno Valle Rosas served as the Puebla governor from February 2011 until January 2017. On March 27, 2020 it was revealed that due to a previous issue with the stability system, that helicopter should have never been used for the flight and was therefore the contributing cause of the crash.

Answer: Albania

Albanian forces led by Ahmet Zogu overthrew Fan Noli on Christmas Eve to officially gain independence. Ilias Vrioni was chosen as the new prime minister, and the constitution of Albania was drawn up in early 1825. The other choices aren't even on the continent of Europe.

The storm had wind gusts as high as 134.84 miles per hour (217 kilometers per hour). 71 people were declared dead and nearly 80 percent of all housing across the entire city was destroyed, leaving over half the city's population displaced. Due to the fact that a previous storm had been predicted to make landfall and never did, a lot of residents didn't take the warnings seriously.

Answer: San Francisco

The crash occurred shortly after the plane took off from San Francisco International Airport. The plane only had three crew members on board, all of which were killed in the crash. The plane was en route to JFK Airport in New York City.

Answer: Aida

If you know "Aida", this one should have been fairly easy. Set in the Old Kingdom of Egypt, the four act opera debuted at the Khedivial Opera House on December 24, 1871. The first performance was conducted by Giovanni Bottesini. "Aida" remains one of Verdi's most prolific works to this day and has become known as one of the greatest operas ever conceived.

Answer: Someone falsely yelled fire inside a crowded building

The event referred to as the Italian Hall disaster, took place that night after someone shouted fire, when there was no fire. This resulted in a stampede of people attempting to exit the building down a steep stairway from the second floor all at once. 59 children were among the 73 casualties.

Many people believe that the event was purposely orchestrated because of union disputes, since the party was for families of the Western Federation of Miners.

Answer: Eggnog Riot

On December 22, a few cadets convinced a guard to allow them to smuggle in whiskey for an eggnog party to be held on the 24th and 25th. The two cadets successfully smuggled in two gallons of whiskey and another managed to smuggle in a gallon of rum. On the night of the 24th, the party began, and by the next morning a drunken riot had broken out involving more than half of the barracks. Over 70 students were disciplined including over 20 courts-martial. Future Confederate president Jefferson Davis was involved in the riot but ultimately avoided a court-martial.
