General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson was a man of many fascinating and strange habits. He had a habit of keeping an arm raised over his head to "maintain balance." He constantly sucked on lemons, and refused to put pepper on his food. His nickname "Old Blue Light" came from the peculiar glow from his pale blue eyes during battle.
2. This general was regarded by his superiors as the best commander in the Union army:

Major General John F. Reynolds was one of the most highly esteemed general officers in the Union army. Reynolds was killed by a sniper at the Battle of Gettysburg, in defense of his home state.
