Pappardelle is a flat, ribbon-shaped pasta which is taken from the Italian verb, "pappare" which means "gobble up". Farfalle is bow-shaped, rigatoni is tubular, and conchiglie is shell-shaped. Any of these varieties of pasta can be eaten with meat, tomato or cheese based sauces.
