He was born as Robert James Fischer at the Michael Reese hospital on March 9,1943 in Chicago. His father was a biophysicist and his mother a registered nurse.
2. What was the name of the church/denomination of which he was a member?

Answer: Worldwide Church of God

Later on however he left the church and denounced it publically. This was after the church's public reputation was tarnished by sex scandals in 1972. Also, by the fact that some of its biblical prophecies failed to materialize.

Answer: 1972

In 1975 however he lost his title to Anatoly Karpov after refusing to play him in a match.
