Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How much does super tax cost?

Answer: 100 pounds

Super tax is the space between Park Lane and Mayfair, just before you can collect the £200 for passing 'go'.
2. What colour uniform is the 'go to jail' man wearing?

Answer: blue

The 'go to jail' man appears three quarters of the way around the board after passing go and sends you back the distance of half the board. You must remain in jail until you have thrown a double or paid the £50 fine.
3. How much money does the banker distribute at the start of the game?

Answer: 1500 pounds

The banker must distribute a range of notes so as to ensure that each player has sufficient change. Each note in the Monopoly board is a different colour.
4. What happens if you land on an unowned property and decide not to purchase it?

Answer: The banker must auction the property.

If you decide not to buy and the property goes to auction, you may be able to pick it up at a cheaper price because a refusal to buy doesn't exclude you from participating in the auction.
5. Which of the following does NOT refer to the requests of a chance or community chest card?

Answer: receive a free property

Chance or community chest cards can also ask you to move your token (with negative or positive consequences), go to jail or give you the opportunity to get out of jail free.
6. Which of the following is not a reason for being sent to jail?

Answer: being unable to pay rent.

You can be sent to jail for landing on the 'go to jail' square too. Failure to pay rent results in losing the game.
7. If a player owns Park Lane and Mayfair with Mayfair mortgaged, how much rent can that player ask if another player lands on Park Lane?

Answer: 70 pounds

If a player owns the all the properties of one colour but has not developed it in terms of houses or hotels, s/he is entitled to ask for double the rent should an opponent land there; this even applies if one of the other properties is mortgaged.
8. When a property has been mortgaged, it can be repaid by paying how much percent (on top of the re-mortgage value) to the bank?

Answer: 10

When a property has been mortgaged, it cannot be sold back to the bank; it can only be sold to other players.
9. Where does Fenchurch Station appear?

Answer: Between the red and yellow properties.

The names of the other stations are as follows: Liverpool St. Station, Kings Cross Station and Marylebone Station.
10. Which of the following duties is the banker NOT required to perform?

Answer: buy mortgaged properties from players.

If a player needs to sell a mortgaged property, they have to sell it to another player - the bank is not allowed to buy it back. If a player loses the game and transfers the mortgaged property to a winning player, this winning player is obliged to pay the 10% immediately to the bank to restore the property to its former status.
