Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How much damage does a longsword do?

Answer: 1d8

With its critical of 19-20 x2, you can't do more than 16 points of damage with a longsword in one attack. (Assuming you don't have Power Attack or some sort of magical longsword).
2. How much damage does a silver dagger do?

Answer: 1d4

The silvering of the dagger doesn't actually change its damage, it simply negates the damage reduction of some enemies.
3. How much damage does a frost weapon add?

Answer: 1d6

Frost weapons and Flaming weapons deal the same amount of damage. The only difference is which enemies are resistant and which receive double damage.
4. Out of the weapons in the 3rd edition Players Handbook, which deal the most damage?

Answer: Greatsword and Greataxe

A Greatsword deals 2d6 damage, while a Greataxe deals 1d12.
5. The critical for a rapier is 18-20 x2.

Answer: True

If you take Improved Critical with a rapier, you get a threat range of 15-20. That means you get a critical a quarter of the time!
6. Piercing weapons do half damage to undead.

Answer: False

Piercing weapons don't harm undead at all, Slashing do half damage, and Bludgeoning do full.
7. What is the only type of weapon that can have a keen enchantment placed on it? Remember this is the 3.0 rule set, not 3.5.

Answer: Slashing

The keen enchantment duplicates the Improved Critical Feat, but if you have both, the result is 3x the threat range, not 4. In 3.5 edition, piercing weapons can be made keen as well.
8. How far can you throw a dagger? (with no penalty)

Answer: 10 feet

Since an enemy within ten feet can quickly close with you, it's usually a better idea to keep your weapon in your hand.
9. What is the threat range/critical of a +2 Mighty Composite Longbow?

Answer: x3

All bows have the same threat range and critical. The only way to change that is to get the Improved Critical feat, or to become a Deepwood Sniper.
10. A Quarterstaff can be used as a double weapon at a -20/-18 penalty.

Answer: False

Two Weapon Fighting penalties vary, but none are as high as -20/-18, especially for the quarterstaff, which you can fight with as if the off hand weapon was light.
