Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Australians have a game of chance known as "Two Up". What special day is it only legally played on?

Answer: Anzac Day

"Two Up" is played with two pennies resting on a board, the board is thrown in the air and how the coins fall deciding whether you win or lose. The person throwing the coins is called the ringer, after all bets have been placed the call of "come in spinner" is made and the coins are tossed.

The outcome decides whether you win or lose, prior to the tossing you can bet on "heads", "tails" or "odds". The history of "Two Up" is now associated with Anzac Day resulting from Australian soldiers extensively playing the game during WW1.
2. Another game of chance is a method of choosing a volunteer to do something. One person holds the exact number of the people involved and each person takes one. How is the volunteer chosen?

Answer: Drawing straws, volunteer picks the shortest

The straws are held in the hand and all appear to be the same length. Each person selects a straw, and the person who picks the short straw is the volunteer. If more than one person is required, then the appropriate number of short straws are added to the handful. Hence, the expression "drawing the short straw".
