Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Playing with points: What is the usual score to play to?

Answer: 500

If you want to play a shorter game you can just play to 250.
2. How many points do you get for making your Nil bid?

Answer: 100

If you do not get the Nil bid, however, you lose 100 points.
3. If you go Nil, what is the least amount your partner can bid in partnership bidding?

Answer: 4

You can bid 4 or more, but you cannot bid 3.
4. When you play with 2s as the highest trumps ("Deuces High Spades"), what is the order of the 2s (highest first)?

Answer: Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds, Spades

Basically, that means that if you throw 2 of Clubs and I throw the 2 of Hearts, then I win the book. All 2s count as a spade.
5. How much must you be down by to bid blind?

Answer: 200

If you bid blind, your score for the round is doubled.
6. Playing with no points: How many books do you need to win?

Answer: 7

If you get 7, the most your opponents can get is 6.
7. What is it called when you get 10, 11, or 12 books?

Answer: Dime

If you get 13 books, it's not a dime, it's a shut-out.
8. What is it called when you spade a suit you still have in your hand?

Answer: Renege

So if you have a heart in your hand, and you cut a heart, you are reneging.
9. What happens if you cut on a suit you have in your hand?

Answer: Lose 3 books

When you renege, you lose 3 books. If you don't have 3 books, you give what you have and the next book you win goes to your opponents.
10. Which is not a possible way to call a misdeal?

Answer: No 2's

If you had to have a 2, then a lot of misdeals would be called.
