Playmates Toys is a company based out of California and Hong Kong. Playmates first introduced the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toyline in 1988 after the premiere of the animated series in 1987.

Throughout the years the four turtles, Michaelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo and Raphael have had numerous action figures. The Mutatin' Turtles were action figures of that transformed (mutated) from their original animal forms into their humanoid forms. Rock 'N Rollin' Turtles featured the four turtles dressed in outfits based on various musical genres.

There was also a subline where the four turtles were able to store weapons and accessories inside of their shells. "Turtles in Time" was the name of a video game released for the Super Nintendo.

It also had a gimmick where the legs could wrap around another figure "capturing it."
