Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Twinkies are very poor electricity conductors.

Answer: True

It has been playfully suggested that Twinkies be used to move fallen power lines and electrically isolate rooms because of their resistance to electricity.
2. If you takes a creamy piece of Twinkie and runs 110 volts of electricity through it, what will happen in about five or ten minutes?

Answer: The filling will liquefy and bubble

However, it has been maintained that the Twinkie is still edible at this point, but only if you disconnect the cake from the power source first!
3. What happens to a Twinkie that is dropped from a six-story building?

Answer: It cracks, but doesn't explode

Surprisingly, the Twinkie is little changed from its free fall. Gouge and Stadler, the college students who performed the Twinkie experiments, suggest that in a pinch it would theoretically be plausible to survive a six-story plunge by padding yourself with Twinkies, but they (and I) strongly discourage such an act.
4. How long does it take for a Twinkie to turn partially black in a microwave on HI?

Answer: Between one and two minutes

There are many ways to eat Twinkies, including making strawberry Twinkie jubilee, Twinkie kebabs, or deep-frying them, besides eating them straight from the cellophane, but prolonged heating in the microwave just isn't one of them.
5. If you heat a Twinkie in the microwave until smoke billows from the machine, what will the texture of the Twinkie be when it is removed from said environment?

Answer: Hard

Besides which, the cream will turn brown, congealing into a hard, stringy substance. Plus the Twinkie will smell like burnt marshmallow. Unappealing in the extreme.
6. If you touch a match to a Twinkie, will it burst into flame?

Answer: No

Twinkies are hypothesized to contain too much moisture. Only the part of the cake in direct contact with the flame will burn, turning black.
7. If you douse a Twinkie in rubbing alcohol, then set it on fire, what color will the flame be for the first minute or so?

Answer: Blue

First of all, flame is only green when chemicals like Boric acid are involved. Remember, it's actually the alcohol burning for the first minute or so, not the Twinkie. It's only after the alcohol is burned away that the Twinkie catches fire and the flame changes to orange.
8. If you place a Twinkie in a glass of water, how long does it take for the cake to double in size?

Answer: It happens almost immediately

Just remember, there's not a whole lot there in a Twinkie. There's plenty of room for water to be absorbed.
9. If you place a Twinkie in a glass of water, what color will the water be after 24 hours?

Answer: Brown

Don't ask me what the brown is because, frankly, it looks disgusting and I don't even want to know what it is. It's probably all the preservatives and artificial colorings.
10. What percentage of a Twinkie is merely air?

Answer: 68%

Can you believe it? Most of what you're eating when you pick a Twinkie isn't even solid! And after all this, here's the million-dollar question: Should Twinkies truly be categorized as food? Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this quiz and please rate it (you wouldn't believe how hard it can be to get a quiz rated enough times to be ranked).

The experiment results were taken from Christopher Scott Gouge and Todd William Stadler's excellent web page: http://www.twinkiesproject.com/. I have never tried any of the experiments myself.

In fact, I've never even eaten a Twinkie! Good day!
