Frederick Funston (1865-1917) of Ohio led a fun and busy life. He started out as a newspaper reporter, and explored the Yukon and Death Valley. He enlisted in the Army and became a brigadier general and a major general, leading troops in the Spanish-American War. He also wrote "Memories of Two Wars" in 1911.
