Although she was approached to be in it, Ethel Merman turned down the lead part in 'Mame'. It was given to Angela Lansbury instead.

Answer: Linda Low

Linda Low sings this song in the show, displaying how truly American she is. Mei Li and Liu Ma are other characters in 'Flower Drum Song'.
4. Terrence Mann starred in the original Broadway production of 'Beauty and the Beast'. Which other furry character did he open as?

Answer: Rum Tum Tugger in 'Cats'

Terrence Mann also played Javert in the original Broadway cast of 'Les Miserables'. (I'm sorry, that's my favorite play, I had to put that in!)
5. From which successful Broadway production does the song 'Where is Love' come from?

Answer: 'Oliver!'

Oliver sings this song while he is in the basement of the funeral parlour.
6. In 'The Phantom of the Opera', Sarah Brightman played Christine. What was a main reason she was recommended for this part?

Andrew Lloyd Webber actually had his wife, Sarah Brightman, in mind for the part of Christine while he was composing 'Phantom'. She played the part in both the London cast and the Broadway cast. They have since divorced.
7. All four of these songs were sung in the stage musical 'The Sound of Music'. Which one did not also appear in the 1965 movie?

Answer: 'An Ordinary Couple'

For the movie adaptation of 'The Sound of Music' three songs were cut that had been in the play. They were 'An Ordinary Couple', 'How Can Love Survive', and 'No Way to Stop It'. They were replaced by 'I Have Confidence' and 'Something Good'.
8. What was the show 'Sunday in the Park with George' based on?

Answer: Seurat's 'Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte'

The painting that the play was based on was actually made up of thousands of colored dots. In the play, the female lead's name is Dot. Coincidence? I think not.

Answer: Hodel

Hodel went to Siberia to follow her fiance, Perchik. Tzeitel marries the tailor and stayed in the village, while Chava married a Russian. Bielke was too young to marry.

Answer: Gwen Verdon

It was said that Verdon made the play a success.
