Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where was the 10th Anniversary concert staged?

Answer: Royal Albert Hall

The 10th Anniversary Concert was held in the Royal Albert Hall. 'Les Mis' started life in London at The Barbican in October 1985 before moving to the Palace Theatre in December of that year, where it stayed for the majority of its run. The show then moved to Queen's Theatre in April 2004.

It's obviously never been performed at Buckingham Palace, but I guess if the Queen's a fan, then you never know what might happen...
2. On which date was the 10th Anniversary Concert held?

Answer: 8th October 1995

8th October 1995 was the date of the concert, 10 years to the day after the first ever performance.
3. During which song did one of the balloons being stored overhead burst with a rather loud bang?

Answer: Castle On A Cloud

The balloon popped during Hannah Chick's solo 'Castle On A Cloud'. Bless her! It made such a noise, and really made her jump but she carried on like a true professional and it didn't affect her performance one bit.
4. Colm Wilkinson, who played Valjean in the concert, was the first actor to play the role when 'Les Mis' first opened in London.

Answer: true

Indeed he was, and it was a pleasure to see him return to the role for the anniversary. No one can quite sing 'Bring Him Home' like he can!
5. Who played the role of Madame Thenardier in the concert?

Answer: Jenny Galloway

Jenny Galloway gave a fantastically comic performance here, while the others were equally brilliant at their own roles - Judy Kuhn as Cosette, Lea Salonga as Eponine, and Ruthie Henshall as Fantine.
6. Complete the line: 'As the righteous hurry ___'

Answer: Past

'And the righteous hurry past, they don't hear the little ones crying...' from 'At The End Of The Day'.
7. How many previous Valjeans joined together to sing at the end of the concert?

Answer: 17

The 17 Valjeans each sung a line or two of 'Do You Hear The People Sing' in their own language, before coming together at the end to sing (in English!) with the rest of the cast for the finale.
8. Who conducted the 10th Anniversary Concert?

Answer: David Charles Abell

It's the lovely David Charles Abell of course :o) The other three are all professional conductors, and have all been at some point principal conductor for the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales.
9. In the Anniversary Concert the part of Fantine was played by Lea Salonga.

Answer: false

Lea Salonga actually played Eponine, and Fantine was played by the wonderful Ruthie Henshall.
10. Complete this line from the last part of the show - 'To love another person is to ___ the face of God.'

Answer: See

'And remember the truth that once was spoken - to love another person is to see the face of God'...a touching end to a wonderful show. Hope you enjoyed the quiz, thanks for playing!
