"Fiddler on the Roof" is a depiction of Tevye and Golde, a Jewish couple with five daughters, living in Anatevka. Living in the small Russian town, the story starts by describing how "Tradition" helps them live while the world around them changes.

The musical is set in 1959 at the start of a high school year. Danny and Sandy had met over the previous summer, and the show takes us through the year as they figure out that "We Go Together".

Answer: A Chorus Line

When the show opens the audience is invited into an audition for the chorus of a Broadway production. All of the performers sing "I Hope I Get It", and as the audition progresses, the initial musical numbers reveal the lives of the performers. The final number, "One", has all of the selected chorus perform the number in costume.
