Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You're in a chat room called "Pagans ONLY" and silver_elf2374 enters the room and declares "mm every1!" What does MM stand for?

Answer: merry meet

Knowing this sort of thing can come in handy at TNA meetings (Tolkein Nerds Anonymous).
2. A chatter responds to your comment of "kewl fade" with "tyvm". Wishing to reply in kind you type:

Answer: yw

To be brief, tyvm = thank you very much, yw = you're welcome, bbl = be back later, ttfn = ta ta for now, ltns = long time no see.
3. You're in a room called Trivia Madness and correctly answer a question. Everybody tells you "wtg". WTH (What The Heck) does the "G" stand for?

Answer: go

A similar short-cut is "wd" for "well done". Other congratulatory messages I recall from a game called Wordox is "g1" meaning "good one" and "vn" meaning "very nice". WTG can also stand for "Way To Guess" which is fitting for some Trivia Madness players given the way they rapidly fire off a series of wildly inaccurate answers until finally hitting on the right one. I suppose that WTG could also stand for "Way To Google" if the addressee had resorted to looking up the answer.
4. You're playing a game called SissyFight and get double choked during a tattle for the dreaded double choke. When the dust clears your teamie, who stayed out of trouble, says "gg". What's that stand for?

Answer: good game

GG is also used on other online games. A site I used as a reference for this quiz gives the meaning of GG as "Got to Go" but in my experience people use GTG or G2G for that and in this case it wouldn't make sense as your teamie probably wouldn't leave while holding the advantage. You can have a look at that dictionary site at
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/9624/abbrev.html
One can tell the author has spent a lot of time in chat, most likely in romance rooms, probably with a handle incorporating the words "sweet" or "angel".
5. You're reading an online forum dedicated to the subject of child-rearing and come across the following sentence. "I find that time-out is the best method of discipline ymmv." What does the V stand for in YMMV?

Answer: vary

"YMMV" is short for "Your Mileage May Vary", a way of saying your results may be different. The "M" is sometimes taken to stand for "Measurements," which does not change the meaning.
6. You're having an e-mail correspondence with a hockey fan from Detroit. In her latest missive, she asserts, "Yzerman scored 78 goals in the 99-00 season, IIRC." What does the C in IIRC stand for?

Answer: correctly

IIRC stands for "If I Recall Correctly". It and AFAIK for "As Far As I Know" are used when the writer doesn't want to investigate a fact.
7. Which of the following can be used as a substitute for BRB?

Answer: AFK

To be brief, AFK = away from keyboard, ASL = age/sex/location, cya = a shorted version of "see you". BRB means "be right back".
8. You suddenly receive an IM (Instant Message) from someone called coolblaze420, who says he's "17 mael" and "wants 2 mett u irl". What does the L in IRL stand for?

Answer: life

IRL is short for "In Real Life" and is used in to contrast with the apparently terribly artificial lives people lead online. The 420 in coolblaze420 denotes that he smokes marijuana, which may account for his terrible typing.
9. If someone uses the acronym HLOLARAWCHAWMP, you can assume they are:

Answer: amused

Apparently the user or another user just made a funny and the person is claiming he or she is "Hysterically Laughing Out Loud And Rolling Around While Clapping Hands And Wetting My Pants". I've never actually seen this one used, but I've seen similarly excessive acronyms denoting that the writer is ever so amused, such as ROTFLMAO. If you answered "an idiot" I sympathize, but some people who do this sort of thing are actually rather intelligent.
10. You want to buy some clothes on eBay and come across something that looks suitable, but it has the abbreviation NWT next to it. What does the T stand for?

Answer: tags

NWT stands for "New With Tags". Similarly, NWOT is "New Without Tags" and BNWT is "Brand New With Tags". Saying an item is NWT means that it hasn't been worn, since people remove the manufacturer's tags before wearing new clothes.
