Answer: Dwarves

Norns were a group of three individuals that determined man's fate; whether they would be rich or poor, wise or stupid, happy or sad and each persons life span. Some of the Norns were said to have descended from the dwarves. The Jarnvidger were female trolls living in Ironwood.

The dwarves have usually been identified with the forging of metals. They have also been credited with the creation of Thor's hammer, Mjollnir.
2. Which of the following was an epithet often applied to Odin?

Answer: Chief God or All-Father

Odin was the chief God, also called "The All-Father". At Ragnarok (Armageddon) he did battle with, and was swallowed by, the monster wolf Fenrir, resulting in his death. Fenrir will eventually be slain by Vidar, Odin's Son.
3. Which of these was another name for Odin?

Answer: Blindi

Odin was the Son of Bor and Bestla. He is considered the chief god and is said to have twelve names. Two of those names are Blindi, Norwegian for blind, which refers to Odin's forfeiting one of his eyes as the price of one draught from Mimir's well of knowledge, and Voden or Woden, generally accepted as the source of 'Wednesday'.

According to most sources, dwarves were originally maggots in the earth that were given understanding and intelligence by the Gods. The Norns were named Uld, Skuldi and Verdandi. Sinirs is one of the eleven horses of the Gods.

Answer: Angrboda

The three monsters produced by Loki and Angrboda were Jormungand, the Midgard serpent; Fenrir, the wolf who eventually slew Odin; and Hel, who was chosen by Odin to preside over Niflheim, the dark world. Sigyn was also Loki's wife, with whom he had a son named Nari or Narfi.
7. Where was the fetter that successfully restrained the wolf Fenrir contrived?

Answer: Svartalfheim

This fetter was called Gleipner. It was constructed in Svartalfaheim, the world of the dark elves. It was composed of six elements: A woman's beard, the breath of a fish, the noise of a cat's footsteps, the spittle of a bird, the Foots of a mountain and the sinew of a bear. This magical fetter constrained Fenrir until the advent of Ragnorok at which time he broke free and killed Odin.
8. Who was Gerd in Norse mythology?

Answer: Frey's Wife

Gerd was considered the most beautiful of all women. In order to win the hand of Gerd, Frey agreed to give his sword to Skirnir, his man servant, if he spoke to Gerd on Frey's behalf. Skirnir was successful in that Gerd agreed to the proposal of marriage. Frey later had to do battle with Beli without his sword, killing him with a stag's horn.

The Valkyries and Freyja would appear on the field of battle. The Valkyries would take half of the slain warriors to Valhalla and Freyja would take the other half to 'the Warriors field' or 'Folkvangr'.

Answer: Ymir's blood

The Ynglings were the descendants of Yngvi, one of Odin's Sons, who ruled over Sweden. Volsung a legendary hero was the Father of Sigmund, whose family originated in France. Andvari was one of the dwarves who owned a magical gold ring stolen by Loki. Andvari was originally a pike (fish) turned into a dwarf by Loki so that he could steal his gold.
