Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is the first one to sing a line?

Answer: Raoul

The Auctioneer was the first to say a line (Sold. Your number sir? Thank you.") But the very first line sung was Raoul's ("A collecter's piece, indeed...")
2. What comes next? "Si! These things do happen! Well, until you stop these things happening ________"

Answer: This thing does not happen

This is after Carlotta is interrupted by a backdrop crashing to the floor as she began to sing "Think of Me".
3. How old was Raoul when he rescued Christine's scarf from the sea?

Answer: 14

In the libretto (but not heard on the CDs), Raoul mentions saving Christine's red scarf from the sea, which lets Christine know it is really him, since they haven't seen each other since they were younger.
4. What is the only thing Mme. Firmin said throughout the whole musical?

Answer: Greedy

Mme. Firmin did indeed exist and she did have a line. It can be found in the libretto after the performance of Hannibal (after Meg and Christine sing "Angel of Music") and before Raoul and Christine sing "Little Lotte". It's just one word, but it's there.
5. What instrument did Christine's father play?

Answer: Violin

"Christine: Father playing the violin. Raoul: As we read to each other dark stories of the North."
6. Fill in the blank: "I have brought you to the seat of _____ music's throne."

Answer: sweet

This is the Phantom's first line after he and Christine have finished singing "Phantom of the Opera". "I have brought you to the seat of sweet music's throne to this kingdom where all must pay homage to music...music."
7. Name the song that this line is in: "Turn your face away..."

Answer: Music of the Night

"Turn your face away from the garish light of day, turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light - and listen to the music of the night."
8. What type of mist was there "upon a vast, glassy lake"?

Answer: swirling

"I remember there was mist, swirling mist upon a vast, glassy lake."
9. Fill in the blank: "But his voice filled my spirit with a strange sweet sound. _____________ there was music in my mind"

Answer: In that night

"But his voice filled my spirit with a strange, sweet sound. In that night there was music in my mind. And through music my soul began to soar! And I heard as I'd never heard before."
10. What horses did Christine tell Raoul to order?

Answer: Fine

"Order your fine horses".
