Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The show follows the story of Tick, Adam and Bernadette as they travel from Sydney to Alice Springs. What names are they also known by?

Answer: Mitzi, Felicia and Bernadette

In Sydney, Tick is better known as Mitzi Mitosis and Adam as Felicia JollyGoodFellow! Bernadette's name is Bernadette Bassinger which she uses as both her real name and her stage name.
2. Bernadette is a transsexual woman who is described as the "classy" one of the three. What was she named before her operation?

Answer: Ralph

This is a name Bernadette would definitely rather forget, although Adam is reluctant to let her do so. His mention of her former identity causes Bernadette to crash the bus in anger. During the show Adam asks Bernadette if it's true that she keeps "Ralph junior" in her handbag, just to wind her up. She replies "I wish I did so, I could shove him down your throat". Catfight alert!
3. The trio are asked to perform at a casino in Alice Springs; who owns this venue?

Answer: Tick's wife

After believing him to be gay, Adam and Bernadette are very shocked to find Tick has a wife called Marion, and even more so when they discover his son, Benji. When they finally reach Marion's casino Bernadette faints on seeing Tick's son.
4. While on the road in their budget bus called Priscilla, Adam likes to sit on the roof and sing "Follie! Delirio vano è questo! Sempre libera" an aria from "La Traviata".Who wrote this particular opera?

Answer: Verdi

Felicia sits on a giant shoe wearing a silver jumpsuit in a scene that is almost identical to that of the film. The shoe extends into the audience while Adam mimes to this famous aria. He is joined on stage by The Divas who hang from wires and provide a harmony for the number.
5. After forfeiting in a game of truth or dare, Adam forces Tick to go into the bar in the town they are staying in, dressed in full drag. What is the name of the woman who owns the bar there?

Answer: Shirley

Shirley is a revolting woman who wears a thong and who most definitely wears the wrong bra size! She claims she wants to "get some action" as she sings "I love the Nightlife".
6. When they go to leave Broken Hill, they find someone has sprayed a nasty graffiti message on the side of their bus. Tick says "no matter how immune you think you are it still hurts". Which Joni Mitchell song do they sing?

Answer: Both Sides Now

This beautiful song is also well known for being in the romantic comedy film "Love Actually" when Emma Thompson's character discovers her husband has been cheating on her.
7. When Priscilla breaks down a mechanic named Bob comes to help. He remembers seeing Bernadette perform in an act years before. What was the name of the act?

Answer: Les Girls

Priscilla is actually one of the props on stage. It weighs 6 tonnes and sits on hydraulic lifts. It can revolve and open so scenes can be performed inside.

When Bob finds he is sitting with a real member of Les Girls he says, "I wouldn't have seen you though, this was 30 years ago", to which Adam replies, "Yes, she would have retired by then".
8. Bernadette decided to come on the trip after the death of her husband. What was his name?

Answer: Trumpet

Tick thought that Trumpet had slipped over in the bathroom and died but Bernadette later tells us that "he was peroxiding his hair again and asphyxiated on the fumes". We also learn the real reason for Trumpet's name, and it's not because he was musical. All I'll say is the story ends in a joke about a ginger nut biscuit that's guaranteed to have the whole theatre crying with laughter.
9. Bob's wife Cynthia has an unusual act that meant that she was banned from the pub in their town. What items does she use in this controversial performance?

Answer: Ping Pong balls

In the original London cast Cynthia was played by Kanako Nakano who performs a sort of striptease act to the song "Pop Muzik". The ping pong balls are thrown into the audience as special souvenirs. They are pink and read "for external use only"!
10. At the end of the show which two characters stay at on at the casino?

Answer: Bernadette and Bob

Bernadette and Bob stay at the casino to organise the entertainment. Marion takes a well-earned holiday. Tick, Adam and Benji embark on a trip back to Sydney. Although the three friends all get on by the end of the show, Adam couldn't resist making one more jibe at Bernadette and he hangs a flag out of the back of the bus which reads "See ya Ralph"!
