Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which musical is this line from? - "Like a rich man's wife. With a proper double chin!"

Answer: Fiddler on the Roof

From "If I were a Rich Man". Teyve is praying that God will make him rich which he believes will make him happy. I love this musical. It has some great funny lines and some real poignant moments.
2. Which musical are these lines from ? - "Here, take my Kleenex. Wipe that lipstick away."

Answer: Little Shop of Horrors

This lyric is from "Suddenly Seymour". Seymour is trying to be a comfort to Audrey who seems to be pretty hard to convince that Seymour is the right man for her.
3. Which musical are these lines from? - "You come from God. You are a saint"

Answer: Les Miserables

I love this line. It really makes Valjean think about where he is, who he is and where he's going. Typical it takes someone else to tell him (Fauchelevent).
4. Which musical are these lines from? - "Hopes became needs. Lovers possessions."

Answer: Chess

This lyric comes from the song "Where I Want To Be" sung by "The Russian" and perhaps gives us the first hint that he is thinking of defecting or at least getting out from where he is.
5. Which musical are these words from? - "Spring is born. Comes the day, I say"

Answer: The Secret Garden

From "Winter's on the Wing". This is Dickon's song telling us how wonderful the spring is and what it will do to the garden. I auditioned for this role for the NZ production. But...
6. Which musical are these words from? -"When Nature picked on me. She chose to stick on me"

Answer: Blood Brothers

Sung by Mickey and Eddie, "That Guy" gives us an insight in to what teenage boys may be thinking. Each believes that the other has better characteristics, little knowing that they are twin brothers.
7. Which musical is this line from? - "Havana, Havana, Havana freaking Cuba"

Answer: Copacabana

This lyric is from "Who Am I Kidding" sung by Sam Silver, Gladys and some others from the club.... 'The Copa' of course. I recently played Sam Silver in the NZ Premiere of "Copacabana", Barry Manilow's musical based around his hit song of the same name. Lots of FUN!
8. Which musical is this lyric from? - "Friends, dear friends. May I say I'm not a politician"

Answer: Pickwick

This is from the song "If I Ruled the World". It's one of the prologue type parts of some songs. Pickwick goes on to tell the crowd how his world would be if he was a politician, if he ruled the world.
9. Which musical are these words from? - "They asked me how I knew. My true love was true"

Answer: Roberta

A relatively little known show but.... very well known song.
10. And.... in which musical would you find someone singing these words? - "Where is she? Who I close my eyes to see."

Answer: Oliver

I think this is a really lovely little song which is sung by Oliver whilst still with the Sowerberry's.
