She even lied to Mia's school principal, and said that something had happened to her father, because otherwise Mia wouldn't have been allowed to leave class.

Well, she did forget his birthday, but that doesn't mean she wasn't going to get him anything. She stole the moon rock from the palace museum in Genovia.
