1. What is the name of Alanna's mother?

Answer: Doesn't mention

Aly is Alanna's daughter, Lady Katherine in her godmother and Samantha is just a very random name. Alanna's mother died while giving birth to her and Thom.

2. What is Maude's occupation?

Answer: Healer

Maude is the one who first taught the twins how to use their magic. She accompanied Thom to the City of the Gods. Coram stayed with Alanna.

3. During Alanna's first meeting with Ralon of Malven, what did she accuse him of doing?

Answer: Kissing pigs

Alanna eventually beats Ralon up, which makes him angry and causes all sorts of trouble when they are older. He comes back to the city in disguise and makes trouble for George.

4. What is the color of Duke Baird's magic?

Answer: Emerald

He heals Alanna every time she fights with Ralon. Later, he also heals Keladry of Mindelan every time she fights with the older pages.

5. Of the following people, whom does Alanna meet first?

Answer: George

Although she doesn't get to know him, Alanna meets George before she even gets to the palace. Coram accuses him of being a thief, which he is.

Apparently Thom is pronounced like the name "Tom". Intriguing. Tamora Pierce has a talent for taking real names (Tom, Alana) and messing around with the spelling.

7. What does Akhnan ibn Nazzir call Alanna's ember stone?

Answer: The eye of a demon

This makes Alanna very angry, and causes her to fight the shaman to the death. She replaces him as shaman.

8. In the desert, why is Alanna angry with Jon part of the time?

Answer: He was acting like a spoiled brat

Later she gets even madder because he gets cocky and assumes that she will agree to marrying him and they get into a huge fight. He calls Alanna unfeminine, which makes her infuriated even though it's true.

9. What color is the Dominion Jewel?

Answer: Blue-violet

This should have been very obvious-Alanna's purple Gift and Jon's blue one? Very original. Blue and yellow are the colors of my favorite soccer team.

10. Who is the last of these that Josiane kills?

Answer: Faithful

She steps on him, which I find pretty funny, even though it's very sad and all... I made myself sad:( It turns out that when Faithful says "Time to go home!" he really means it, because Daine encounters him in the Divine Realm.
