His name is Captain John Craig, part of the Investigation Corps of the United Worlds Space Fleets.

He is on vacation with his girlfriend, Elva Marlowe, on the planet Revere.

He gets the Imp, which causes whatever it hits to implode, the Halo, that allows him to build anything he wants with his mind, and the Box, which allows him to distort time.

4. The Black Enigma is an alien.

Answer: False

It is a black cloud, inside of which are six planets and a single sun. Captain John Craig is sent in the Enigma to try to destroy it. If he does not destroy it it will grow larger until it absorbs the entire universe.

Answer: 1

Although there are six planets inside the Enigma, only one is habitable by humans.

6. What is the god's name?

Answer: Rhythane

Rhythane tells Captain Craig how he was created and how he sent the humans to Rhydd so that they would worship him. He then offers John all the riches and women of the world if John will worship him as a god.

7. Captain Craig dies.

Answer: False

He lives on until the end of the book when he destroys Rhythane by taking off the protective covering of a time belt. Without the covering, the watch randomly travels through time and will leave parts of you in different times.

In the end he is waiting for an Empire ship to take him to Alert Command Headquarters so he can tell of his success at stopping the Enigma from growing larger and swallowing up the universe.
