Question 1 of 10
1. I am called Demandred. Of course, that hasn't always been my name. Some thousand years ago my loving parents (a-ha...) chose to give me a different name. Damn, can't quite remember...

What was my birth name?
Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Well, it was difficult to remain in the Light while constantly standing in another man's (a-ha...) shadow. Second best in strength, second best in love, second best in beauty. Oh, how I detested that man!

Whom did I hate more than anything else?
Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. And so I did what every sensible man would have done: during the War of Power I left the Dragon's shadow and created my own. Accompanied by one of the Chosen I entered the Pit of Doom and swore the Great Lord's oaths.

Who led me into the Pit of Doom?
Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Late in the Third Age I decided to leave the heartlands, the other Chosen and their unnecessary skirmishes behind. I travelled to a somewhat mysterious land, situated even behind the Aiel Waste, to gather new forces for the coming of Tarmon Gai'don.

Where did I find my army?
Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. As I was gathering the most hardened fighters of the nation and the most powerful of their Ayyad, once more I was given a new and fitting name for Tarmon Gai'don: Barid had become Demandred. And Demandred became ... who?

What was my given name at the Last Battle?
Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Ah, Tarmon Gai'don! On the Fields of Merrilor I pounded the forces of Lews Therin with tremendous hammer blows of the One Power. Not only was I leading a full circle of 72 Ayyad, I also had access to an item which considerably empowered my ability to use sai'din.

What item did I wield during Tarmon Gai'don?
Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. I have always been one of the most cunning generals, rivalled possibly only by Lews Therin himself. When the Light's forces at the Battle of Merrilor refused to break despite my best efforts, I had to believe that they were commanded by the Lord of the Morning. But nay, they weren't!

Who was the enemy army's commanding general?
Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. During Tarmon Gai'don, Lews Therin finally made his move. But the coward didn't dare face me directly! Hiding behind his pet Aes Sedai, he sent one shadow-cloaked assassin to face me in hand-to-hand combat. Needless to say, I slaughtered that reddish-golden haired boy.

Whom did I kill there and then?
Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. After I had just killed that first man, another one had the incredible temerity to face me! Again he wasn't Lews Therin, but he claimed to be al'Thor's half-brother. Who was this, who fought well, at first - less so, after I had severed his arm? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. But, alas, on the Fields of Merrilor finally a man faced and defeated me. Me, Demandred, killed by a king without a crown, a borderlander without borders. If only the Blight had swallowed him, too.

What was that man's light-cursed name?
Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I am called Demandred. Of course, that hasn't always been my name. Some thousand years ago my loving parents (a-ha...) chose to give me a different name. Damn, can't quite remember... What was my birth name?

Answer: Barid Bel Medar

Ah, yes. I remember now...
Before I decided to join the Shadow I was called Barid Bel Medar. As is the case with all the other Chosen (okay, 'Forsaken', if I must), I received a new name upon the beginning of my new life - Demandred.

Mierin Eronaile became Lanfear - later known as Cyndane.
Elan Morin Tedronai became Ishamael - later known as Moridin.
Tel Janin Aellinsar became Sammael, the Betrayer of Hope, who was ... well ... gobbled up by Mashadar in Shadar Logoth. The fool.
2. Well, it was difficult to remain in the Light while constantly standing in another man's (a-ha...) shadow. Second best in strength, second best in love, second best in beauty. Oh, how I detested that man! Whom did I hate more than anything else?

Answer: Lews Therin Telamon

What was I to do, I ask you. Lews damnhim Therin was born one day before me. He was (wrongly, mind!) considered to be more handsome than me. He was considered the better swordsman. And, to make a Myrdraal weep, he won the heart of the woman I yearned for: my beloved Ilyena.

Be honest, you would've gone to the Shadow, too.
3. And so I did what every sensible man would have done: during the War of Power I left the Dragon's shadow and created my own. Accompanied by one of the Chosen I entered the Pit of Doom and swore the Great Lord's oaths. Who led me into the Pit of Doom?

Answer: Graendal

It was the beginning of the War of Power and I still fought against the Shadow. My superior tactics and military genius led our armies to many a victory against the darkness. None could rival my prowess - and yet Lews, that arrogant son of a Trolloc, was appointed field general for the Light.

In my righteous fury I decided to finally join the forces of the Great Lord where my considerable worth would be appreciated. Graendal brought me to the Pit of Doom where I forsook the Light and became one of the Chosen.

Answer: Shara

I travelled to Shara, a land to the east of the Aiel Waste, inhabited by people who call themselves Sharans. These greeted me as their king and embraced me as their commanding general. Within a short time I had mustered a huge army of battle-raging warriors worthy of the Last Battle. Even better, my forces were supported by fierce wielders of the One Power - male and female alike - who were called 'Ayyad'.
5. As I was gathering the most hardened fighters of the nation and the most powerful of their Ayyad, once more I was given a new and fitting name for Tarmon Gai'don: Barid had become Demandred. And Demandred became ... who? What was my given name at the Last Battle?

Answer: Bao the Wyld

Having arrived at Shara I quickly gained the support of the whole nation. Their monarchs - the Sh'boan and the Sh'botay - the Ayyad, as well as their heavy cavalry and infantry all gathered under by war banners, ready and willing to strike a crippling blow to Lews Therin and his rag-tag army. When my new followers gave me the name Bao the Wyld I did not refuse.

Oh, yes. Please do NOT call me Demandryd.

Answer: Sakarnen, male sa'angreal

Sakarnen, the golden scepter, was considered to be the second most powerful sa'angreal, weaker only than the Choeden Kal. I assume it was as strong as Callandor but without the Crystal Sword's greatest weakness, since Sakarnen could safely be wielded without women using sai'dar.

Unfortunately, I gave Sakarnen to that would-be Chosen M'Hael to aid him in his part of the battle. Subsequently, it was destroyed when he managed to get himself killed by that al'Vere woman who called herself Amyrlin.

Answer: Matrim Cauthon

Matrim cursehim Cauthon! I didn't know (I couldn't know!) that the Eelfinn had given him the experience and the memories of countless of extraordinary military leaders throughout history. As a result he was able to read and understand every one of my moves, countering them with daring courage and great precision.

Son of Battles, indeed!

Answer: Gawyn Trakand

Gawyn Trakand had the arrogance to challenge me to single combat. Before entering battle he donned three Bloodknife ter'angreal, thereby hoping to have a chance against my blade. Even though his speed was vastly increased through the magic of the Bloodknives, and even though the ter'angreal hid Gawyn within their shroud of shadows, he was no match for me.

Still, he should be grateful for the quick death I have granted him. The Bloodknife rings would have killed him otherwise, a much slower, much more painful death. I, at least, have allowed him to die in the arms of his half-brother - merciful, as I am known to be.
9. After I had just killed that first man, another one had the incredible temerity to face me! Again he wasn't Lews Therin, but he claimed to be al'Thor's half-brother. Who was this, who fought well, at first - less so, after I had severed his arm?

Answer: Galadedrid Damodred

Galad Damodred was indeed the half-brother of al'Thor, related by the Taringail side of their family. He was a better swordsman than his other half-brother, that Trakand boy, but not near good enough. I spared his life but kept his arm - it seemed only fair and generous.
10. But, alas, on the Fields of Merrilor finally a man faced and defeated me. Me, Demandred, killed by a king without a crown, a borderlander without borders. If only the Blight had swallowed him, too. What was that man's light-cursed name?

Answer: Lan Mandragoran

'Duty is heavier than a mountain, death lighter than a feather.' A typical saying from a typical borderlander! Using the suicide form Sheathing the Sword he opened his defense, knowing that in that moment he'd die at my hands, only to inflict a lethal wound upon me. Curse him!

And, just to make matters worse, while I lay dying on Polov Heights he was healed by one of those White Tower women. Curse him twice!

But, believe me, I'll have my revenge. In the next Age.
