Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger" What was the name of the man in Tull who The Man In Black brought back to life?

Answer: Nort

Sheb is the man who owns the bar, Zoltan's the name of the raven The Gunslinger saw at the dwellers' hut in the desert, and Jude is the name of the song that's playing when The Gunslinger first goes into the bar.
2. "The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger" What didn't The Gunslinger see in his vision during his palaver with the Man In Black?

Answer: Doors

In his vision he saw the world being formed from the beginning. Plants first, then dinosaurs. He saw continents formed, then rose through the clouds above the atmosphere and saw the other planets of the universe.
3. "The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three" What is the name of the man whom Eddie dragged through the doorway to the beach from New York?

Answer: Jack Andolini

Balazar is the leader of the mob group that Eddie and Roland have the shoot-out with, Jack Mort is the man behind door #3 (The Pusher), and Claudio Andolini is the brother of Jack Andolini.
4. "The Dark Tower III: The Wastelands" What does "Char" mean in the High Speech?

Answer: Death

After their dinner in the town of River Crossing, Roland thinks to himself that most words in High Speech have many meanings and "Char" is the only word that has only one, Death.
5. "The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass" Where does Roland's ka-tet end up after their ride on Blaine?

Answer: Topeka, Kansas

I've always loved how Stephen King brings his books together. Roland and his ka-tet end up in Kansas during the aftermath of the superflu, and see a spray-painted highway sign with the words "watch for the Walkin Dude". As SK's Constant Readers should know, the super-flu and the "Walkin Dude" both came from his book, "The Stand".
6. "The Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla" What is the name of the man who reminded Eddie of Pa Cartwright?

Answer: George Telford

As Eddie was speaking to the people of the Calla in the Pavillion, he noticed a man in a cowboy hat with shaggy white hair and eyebrows, and thought that he looked like Pa Cartwright from 'Bonanza'. Later that evening the man came up to Eddie and introduced himself as George Telford.
7. "The Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla" What do the women who practice throwing plates call themselves?

Answer: Sisters of Oriza

Margret Eisenhart tells the story of how Gray Dick, an outlaw prince, murdered Lady Oriza's father. The Lady invites Gray Dick to dinner on the pretense that she will forgive him, and says they will be dining naked so he knows she's not hiding any weapons. Gray Dick agrees and is looking forward to it. Meanwhile Lady Oriza prepares by sharpening the edge of a dinner plate and practicing throwing it.

The night of the dinner arrives and they have a great feast, at the end of which Lady Oriza throws the dinner plate, killing Gray Dick, thus getting vengeance for her fathers murder. So the women of the Calla throw the plates in Lady Oriza's honor, call themselves "Sisters of Oriza", and shout "Riza!" as they throw.
8. "The Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah" Who is "The Chap"?

Answer: Mordred

First of all, Jake and Eddie are never referred to as "The Chap". Secondly, although Mia carried Mordred she could not rightly be called his mother because she needed Susannah's body to carry and feed him until it came time for him to be born.
9. "The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower" How did Susannah figure out "Odd Lane" was an anagram for Dandelo?

Answer: She got a hint from a note in the bathroom

Joe Collins IS Dandelo so he wouldn't have told her. Susannah is a clever woman but even she needs a little help sometimes. She was laughing hysterically at Collins' jokes and accidentally made herself bleed by slapping the scab off her face. She went to the bathroom to clean up and found a note under a towel telling her to really think about the name of the street.

She then breathed on the mirror and wrote Odd Lane, then, after thinking about the letters, printed Dandelo below it. A perfect anagram.
10. "The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower" At the very end of the book when Roland had to begin his journey again from the desert, what did he have that he didn't have last time?

Answer: The horn of Arthur Eld

This time Roland has the Horn of Eld he had picked up when Cuthbert dropped it at Jericho Hill. SK leaves Roland's fate to our imaginations, but leaves us with hope, as shown in this line from the last page:
"This is your promise that things may be different Roland-that there may yet be rest. Even salvation.
A pause and then:
If you stand. If you are true."
