Aelmarkin hates Kyrtian and wants his estate. He spreads a rumor that Kyrtian is crazy.

Kyrtian's father always wanted to find the portal that their ancestors came through. One day he doesn't come back from an expedition. Kyrtian finds his body in the end of the book.
