None of the other answers are right because Sloan is the butcher in Carvahall, and Horst is another man who works in Carvahall, and who didn't join them. Murtagh is the man who saved Brom and Eragon, but he wasn't with them from the very beginning. He stays with them on their journey, but he wasn't with them from the start.

Answer: Galbatorix

The other choices don't make sense because Eragon is a poor farm boy (until he gets Saphira.) He didn't do all those nasty things that the king did, like not caring for anyone but himself. Murtagh, as I said before, wants to join Eragon on his journey, and even if he was king, why would he want to go to the Varden and go against the king? It just doesn't make sense. Brom is the story teller and he was once a rider himself, who served the King.

Answer: A stone

He thought it was a shiny stone, because he said it was too perfectly smooth and the white veins were too minuscule. He went into town when the traders came and he asked Merlock (a merchant) what he thought it could be. Merlock didn't clearly give an opinion but he said someone might pay dearly for it.

He found it in the woods in the Spine. He thought it might be worth something, so he took it with him so he could sell it.
Bree isn't a place in this book. Sloan isn't a place, but he is a man.

Answer: He wants revenge

Eragon wants revenge for his uncle's death from the Ra'zac. The Ra'zac started Garrow's house on fire while he was in it. A couple of days later, after he was rescued, he died. Eragon is now going on a hunt to kill them, for killing his uncle.

This was the saddest part of all. Brom took a stab in the ribs so Eragon wouldn't, and a couple of days later he died. :( Before dying Brom reveals to Eragon that he was once a rider. Brom tells Eragon everything he has to know, then he is silent.

Brom revealed this to Eragon in his last breaths of life. His dragon had the same name as Eragon's dragon. That's how Brom knew what the Gedwey Ignasia was when he saw it on Eragon's hand.

Sloan was angry at Eragon for bringing the egg to his house from the Spine, because his wife died in the Spine.

Answer: Roran

Garrow is Roran's father and Garrow is Eragon's uncle, therefore Roran is Eragon's cousin.
