1. What was the name of Atticus' wife and the mother of Jem and Scout?

Answer: Jean

Scout was named after her mother whose first name was Jean with her maiden name being Graham only to have Finch added after she married Atticus. The one thing that was never explained was where Scout's middle name Louise came from.
2. How many years had passed between the events at the start of "To Kill A Mockingbird" and the events of "Go Set A Watchman"?

Answer: 20 years

Scout was 6 years old at the beginning of "To Kill A Mockingbird" and was 26 years old at the beginning of "Go Set A Watchman", so a 20-year time period had passed. "To Kill A Mockingbird" took place during the 1930s while "Go Set A Watchman" took place in the 1950s.
3. What was Jem's cause of death?

Answer: Heart Condition

Scout informed us that Jem died of a heart condition, which was the same cause of death as their mother. She said that she still thought about him every single day in the years since he died.
4. What was the name of the young man, who Scout had been romantically involved with while they were teenagers, that wanted to marry her now as an adult?

Answer: Henry Clinton

Henry "Hank" Clinton was a lawyer who worked with Atticus and wanted to marry Scout but she didn't want that. She said that marrying him would make her a completely different person.
5. What did Scout find out towards the end of the novel about her mother Jean and her uncle Jack?

Answer: He had actually been in love wth Jean.

For years, Scout had been clueless that her uncle Jack had been in love with her mother and that he kept his feelings to himself because he knew how much she had loved Atticus. Jack informed her that he never acted on his feelings because he could see how much Jean loved Atticus and how much Atticus loved Jean.
6. What was the way in which Scout was treated by Calpurnia when she went to visit her upon learning that Calpurnia's grandson had killed a drunk pedestrian with a car?

Answer: She was treated politely but coldly at the same time.

As Atticus and Scout were having a nice breakfast together, that is when they learned about Calpurnia's grandson killing the drunk pedestrian in his car as he was speeding. Scout decided to go visit Calpurnia because she wanted to see how she was coping and that is when she told us how she was treated by Calpurnia.
7. Where was Scout living at the start of this book?

Answer: New York

Scout was living in New York City and we found that out early on in the novel. She had moved there after graduation and had left Maycomb behind for a brand new life in the Big Apple. Scout had also left behind her childhood sweetheart that everyone had expected her to marry.
8. Which woman in Atticus's family kept trying to turn Scout into a proper woman, the same way she did back in Maycomb during the early years?

Answer: Alexandra

Alexandra had always wanted Scout to be treated like the woman she was raised to be considering how well known the Finches were in Maycomb which was why she always called her Jean Louise. Atticus kept informing Alexandra that Scout was fine the way she was.
9. What did Scout tell Henry after seeing him with Atticus at the Citizens Council meeting?

Answer: She told him she was disgusted and would never marry him.

She had been shocked when she saw both of them at that meeting considering that it was completely different to the views Atticus had taught Jem and her growing up. She would later change her mind after realizing Atticus was still the same father who had raised them.
10. When was "Go Set A Watchman" released?

Answer: Between 2010-2020

The book was released in 2015 and was highly anticipated given the fact that no one knew it had even existed as for years the only book we thought Harper Lee had written was "To Kill A Mockingbird". I was one of the lucky ones who had pre-ordered my copy and got it the day it came out.
