Answer: Theseus

The play opens with a wedding ceremony being planned by Theseus. It is explained that as the Duke, Theseus conquered the Amazons and took their queen, Hippolyta, as his bride.
2. Whom does Lysander love?

Lysander and Hermia are introduced as lovers, but Hermia's father (Egeus) does not approve of the relationship. He believes that since Athenian law says fathers literally own their daughters, he should decide who Hermia weds.
3. Whom does Demetrius love before the interventions of Puck?

Answer: Hermia

Although Demetrius loves Hermia, Hermia actually loves Lysander. Hermia's father wants Hermia to be with Demetrius, so he attempts to make Theseus force Hermia to marry Demetrius.
4. Who is the king of the fairies?

Answer: Oberon

Oberon, as ruler of the fairies, wants his wife, Titania, to give him an Indian child for his group of fairies. Titania refuses, which results in an argument between the fairy groups.
5. Who is the queen of the fairies?

Answer: Titania

When she won't give Oberon the Indian child, the resulting argument causes unusual weather patterns around the globe. Oberon then plans to enchant Titania with a love flower in order to get her to give him the child.
6. Who is the messenger of the fairies?

Answer: Puck

When Oberon is about to enchant Titania with the potion, he tells Puck to take some for himself; Helena and Demetrius have been spotted in the woods. Helena professes her love for Demetrius, but Demetrius is only interested in Hermia. To help Helena out, Puck was told to put the potion on Demetrius's eyes, but anoints Lysander by mistake.
7. Who plays the part of Pyramus?

Answer: Bottom

In a sub-plot, a group of workers decide to put on a play for the Duke's wedding. They decide to act out "Pyramus and Thisby", and because Bottom boasts that he can play any part, he is given the lead.
8. Is Hermia given a reprieve from Athenian law and allowed to marry her true love over her father's demands?

Answer: Yes

When Hermia, Helena, Lysander, and Demetrius are found sleeping in the woods, Lysander admits he and Hermia ran off in an effort to escape Athens' jurisdiction to get married. Touched by their honesty and love, Theseus allows Lysander and Hermia to marry.
9. Demetrius is manipulated into marrying Helena.

Answer: True

After Puck's mistake of putting the love potion on the wrong person, Puck later rectifies his mistake by putting it on Demetrius and removing it from Lysander. Although no mortals seem to know why it happens, Demetrius now loves Helena, much to her delight.
10. The fairies disapprove of the marriages.

Answer: False

After Theseus marries Hippolyta, Lysander marries Hermia, and Demetrius marries Helena, fairies float in the bedrooms of the three couples later in the night, which is mentioned to signify that the fairies are giving their blessings to the marriages, especially since they indirectly arranged the one between Demetrius and Helena.
