If he has spent it unselfishly, he will be given $50,000; but if he has wasted it, the money will go to Miss Hayden. Rosalie comes to visit and tells Lynette that she intends to start performing again.

The two of them fall in love and become engaged, and Rosalie joins his church. The landlady mentions that she has seen Arthur poring over something in a box, and wonders if it belonged to a lost love. Rosalie asks him if this is true and Arthur says that it is a keepsake from a beautiful woman, which he received in a 'roundabout' way. Rosalie is curious one day and looks in the box while Arthur is out, and as soon as she sees the contents, she packs her things and leaves, saying that men are all alike.
