Paths of Darkness Series Trivia Quiz

This quiz is based on the first three books of this series, "The Silent Blade", "The Spine of the World", and "Servant of the Shard", for the simple reason that I have only just started reading the fourth book, "Sea of Swords".

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Chapter one of the novel "The Silent Blade" begins with the return of Drizzt Do'Urden's arch-enemy to the city of Calimport. What is the name of this character?

Answer: Artemis Entreri

The assassin, Artemis Entreri is indeed the correct answer. Sharlotta Vespers is a guild lieutenant in Calimport and has never even met Drizzt, Akar Kessel was an evil wizard who died many years earlier in Icewind Dale, and Harkle Harpell is an eccentric wizard who is actually a very good friend of Drizzt.
2. We first encounter Drizzt and his friends in the first book of this series as they are embarking on a long journey south of the spine of the world mountains. What is the purpose of this journey?

Answer: To find a way to destroy the crystal shard

Mithral Hall was found already in the "Icewind Dale" trilogy, hunting pirates is something that Drizzt and Catti-Brie spent the past several years doing prior to returning to Icewind Dale, and the prisoners' carnival is not your average fun-fair. It's more like a public display of torture and executions.
3. Shortly after his return to Calimport, Drizzt's mortal enemy is approached by another drow wishing to expand drow influence on the surface world. What is the name of this dark elf?

Answer: Jarlaxle

Zaknafein is dead, as is Matron Malice Do'Urden. Kimmuriel is a psionicist, but only Jarlaxle is audacious enough to try to establish direct connections with the surface world.
4. In the novel "The Spine of the World", what job does the barbarian, Wulfgar, end up with once he finds his way into Luskan?

Answer: Bouncer

Wulfgar winds up working as a bouncer for Arumn Gardpeck, owner of the Cutlass, in return for room, board, and all the booze he can drink.
5. For what crime is Wulfgar arrested and sent to the prisoners' carnival in Luskan?

Answer: Attempted murder

Wulfgar is framed for the attempted murder of Captain Deudermont of the Sea Sprite, a well respected pirate hunter.
6. What is the name of the rogue whom Wulfgar takes up with after their escape from the prisoners' carnival in Luskan?

Answer: Morik

Wulfgar takes up with Morik the rogue. Morik has also been told by agents of Jarlaxle to keep an eye on Wulfgar for them.
7. What is the crime for which Wulfgar is arrested and thrown into prison by Lord Feringal of Auckney?

Answer: Rape

Wulfgar was, ironically, accused of rape by the very woman he had saved from such a fate. He was a convenient way to conceal her pre-marital infidelity.
8. In the novel "Servant of the Shard", Entreri uses Jarlaxle's band of mercenaries to help him obtain a magical sword and a magic absorbing gauntlet. What is the name of this sword?

Answer: Charon's claw

Charon's claw is a nasty weapon indeed, but highly appropriate for a dealer of death such as Artemis Entreri. Khazid-hea belongs to Catti-Brie, and Icingdeath and Twinkle both belong to Drizzt.
9. Who was left in command of Bregan D'aerthe at the end of "Servant of the Shard"?

Answer: Kimmuriel

Rai-guy is dead, killed by the red dragon, Hephaestus, as the shard was destroyed. Entreri is a human, and so would never be accepted as a leader by the drow, and Jarlaxle, at least for the moment, decided to remain on the surface with Entreri.
10. At the end of "Servant of the Shard", we find out which of the houses of Menzoberranzan Jarlaxle belongs to. Which is it?

Answer: House Baenre

Jarlaxle Baenre, the third son of Matron Baenre, once sacrificed to Lady Lolth by his mother and his siblings.
