Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Mr. Wickham once asked Lizzy if she went to a certain town. What town was it?

Answer: Kympton

Mr. Wickham told Lizzy that it was the town that he was to make his living in as a clergyman.
2. What was the name of the lady who was at one time a governess to Miss Darcy?

Answer: Mrs. Younge

Mrs. Gardiner and Mrs. Phillips were Lizzy's aunts and Lady Lucas was Charlotte's mother.
3. What is Mrs. Forster's first name?

Answer: Harriet

You can find this out in the note that Lydia left when she ran off with Wickham. "My dear Harriet, you will laugh when you know where I am gone..."
Mary is one of Lizzy's sisters and Maria is Charlotte's little sister.
4. How much did the chimney piece in one of Lady Catherine de Bourgh's drawing rooms cost?

Answer: 800 pounds

Mr. Collins takes a great deal of pride in mentioning this as often as possible, one of the most amusing times being when he compared Mrs. Phillips' drawing room to the small summer breakfast parlor at Rosings.
5. On more than one occasion, Mr. Bennet observes that two of his daughters may be the silliest girls in the country. Which two daughters were they?

Answer: Lydia and Kitty

Lizzy was Mr. Bennet's favorite child and on more than one occasion he called her clever. Caroline and Charlotte were not even his daughters. Caroline was Mr. Bingley's single sister and Charlotte was Lizzy's best friend.
6. Which one of these lodgings did Mrs. Bennet not consider for Lydia to move into, after she was married?

Answer: Tara

Haye Park would do if the Gouldings would quit it. Ashworth was ten miles away which was too far in Mrs. Bennet's opinion, and the attics in Pulvis Lodge were dreadful.
Tara comes from "Gone with the Wind"
7. How old is Charlotte?

Answer: 27

You can find this out when it is explained why Charlotte decided to try to get Mr. Collins to propose to her, and why she accepted.
"This preservative she had now obtained; and at the age of 27, without having ever been handsome..."
8. After Lizzy refused Mr. Collins' proposal, Mr. Bennet told her that if she didn't marry Mr. Collins, she would from then on be a stranger to both of her parents.

Answer: False

Actually Mr. Bennet did not want Lizzy to marry Mr. Collins. Mrs. Bennet is the one that wanted the marriage.
"An unhappy alternative is before you, Elizabeth. From this day on you must be a stranger to one of your parents. Your mother will never see you again if you do not marry Mr. Collins, and I will never see you again if you do."
9. In which month did Mr. Darcy propose to Lizzy the first time?

Answer: April

"If your feelings are still what they were last April..."
10. At the end of the book, how many daughters did Mrs. Bennet have married?

Answer: Three

Lydia, Jane, and Lizzy.
