After getting notification from Texaco Water that he was being transferred to Whitehead City Mark and his wife decided that all of them would go for the two years Mark would be stationed on Mars.
4. Who invented the Jaunt?

Answer: Victor Carune

Victor Carune invented the Jaunt as part of a private research project that was funded by some government money. Carune was a bit of an eccentric. Hal Shelburn was a character in one of King's other short stories 'The Monkey'. Don't need to tell you about the remaining two.
5. In which year did Mark say the Jaunt had been invented?

Answer: 1987

He said the Jaunt had been invented in 1987, some 320 years ago.

They did this to put you to sleep. You had to be asleep to Jaunt or you would lose your mind and die shortly afterwards.
