Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Older, more studious twin

Answer: Elizabeth

The "Sweet Valley High" series was created by Francine Pascal, an American author. The books grew to be so popular that Pascal assembled a team of ghostwriters to churn out the books while she supervised and provided creative inputs on plot themes.

Elizabeth Wakefield was the older of the two twins by four whole minutes. She took her position as elder sister seriously, trying to keep her younger twin in check. Liz, as she was popularly known, was the more serious and studious twin, though that didn't stop her from having her share of fun.
2. The more "fun-loving" twin, in her own words

Answer: Jessica

Jessica is the more outgoing and, in her own words, the more 'fun-loving' of the two girls. She also tends to come across as more selfish and is constantly being pulled out of self-created messes by Elizabeth. Unlike Liz, she is more interested in partying, shopping, and dating.
3. Elizabeth's boyfriend who moves to Vermont for a short while

Answer: Todd

Captain of the school's basketball team, Todd Wilkins is handsome and popular. In the initial books, both Jessica and Elizabeth have crushes on him and Jessica goes all out to win him over. In the end, it is Liz he falls for and the two date steadily, until his family moves to Vermont. Todd does move back later in the series and Liz and he get together again for a while.
4. Jessica's best friend can be called the "poor little rich girl"

Answer: Lila

Lila Fowler is a rich heiress and the only daughter of her parents. She and Jessica can be classified as 'frenemies'. They are best friends but also compete fiercely to be higher in the popularity stakes. With her parents having divorced, Lila often craves the simple family life that the twins have.
5. Rich, good-looking guy from the twins' school

Answer: Bruce

Bruce Patman also belongs to one of Sweet Valley's rich families. In fact, Bruce and Lila's families do not get along. While Lila's father wants to bring new technology and change the place, Bruce's family wants to retain the old-world charm of the place. Bruce dated Jessica briefly but the relationship didn't last.
6. Arts editor of the "Oracle" who dies in an earthquake

Answer: Olivia

The "Oracle" is the school newspaper of Sweet Valley High and Olivia Davidson was its arts editor. As befitting her role, she is often described as being creative and free-spirited. This is also reflected in the clothes and jewellery she wears. Olivia loses her life in an earthquake that occurs in Sweet Valley.
7. The twins' mother; often mistaken for their older sister

Answer: Alice

Alice and Ned Wakefield are the twins' parents. Ned is a lawyer while Alice is an interior decorator. When they first met, Alice was engaged to Hank Patman, Bruce's father. Alice and Ned fell head-over-heels in love with each other and Alice called off her engagement with Hank to marry Ned. Alice is described as having the same looks as her daughters.

Her youthful appearance draws regular comments that she could pass off as their old sister, rather than their mother.
8. Elizabeth's best friend who once had a drug problem

Answer: Enid

Enid and Elizabeth meet in a writing class and their similar personalities and shared interests leads to them becoming best friends. Enid is described as being quiet and studious. This is quite a change from her younger days when she was fond of wild parties and also used drugs.

A car accident brought about the change in her personality. Despite being close friends with Liz, Enid has no time for Jessica and resents the fact that Jessica often takes advantage of Liz's kind nature.
9. The twins' older brother

Answer: Steven

Steven is the twins' older brother. While the girls take after their mother looks-wise, Steve looks like their father. One of the major plot points involving him in the initial part of the series is his relationship with Tricia Martin. Tricia comes from a troubled family and Jessica is horrified that her brother is dating someone like her.

In the 15th book, "Promises", Tricia succumbs to leukemia, leaving Steve distraught.
10. The Class Clown

Answer: Winston

Winston Egbert is known as the Class Clown. Close friends with Todd at one point, he also had a crush on Jessica in the early days of the series. In an unlikely pairing, he later dates a popular cheerleader called Maria. When Todd finds out about Todd and Jessica two-timing Liz during a short lived affair, he is disappointed in the two people he was most of fond of.

This caused Todd and Winston to drift apart and their close friendship was never rekindled.
