Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many men are normally in a quad?

Answer: 4

The quads are a group of men sent after the confessors. There are four because once a confessor touches someone with her power she cannot do it again, so the others can kill her.
2. Who raised Richard?

Answer: George Cypher

George was only Richard's stepfather. Zed (First Wizard) took his daughter away from Richard's real father so that they would not be killed.
3. Kahlan is only Richard's second wife.

Answer: False

She is actually his third. In 'Soul of the Fire', in order for the chimes to be in the real world Kahlan would have had to be Richard's third wife. The other two are Du Chaillu and Nadine.
4. Which is the first city to surrender to Richard?

Answer: Kelton

Under a spell cast by the Blood of the Fold, the duchess of Kelton surrenders to Richard.
5. In which book do Richard and Kahlan get married?

Answer: Temple of the Winds

After a long awaited event, Richard and Kahalan use the sliph in order to get to the Mud People village in order to be wed.
6. Which of the Sisters of the Dark vowed to bathe in Richard's blood?

Answer: Merissa

Merissa vows this when she leaves the spell of the palace of the Prophets. Fortunately the sliph and Richard manage to kill her before this is carried out.
7. Which of the original four Mord-Sith are left alive by the end of 'Temple of the Winds'?

Answer: Cara and Berdine

Raina is killed by the plague. Ricca was not one of the original group of four. Denna was killed in book one. Cara barely makes it through that book- luckily, Richard heals her.
8. Drefan claims that he and Richard do have a sister somewhere in D'Hara. What is her name?

Answer: Lindie

When Darken Rahl was master of D'Hara, he wanted a gifted heir. Richard was the only one born with the gift from however many others there were. Most were murdered when Darken Rahl tested them for the gift. This character is actually introduced in 'Pillars of Creation' yet her name has been changed since what we learn in 'Temple of the Winds' in order to protect her from the quads.
9. The Mord-Sith's agiel can only work when there is a gifted Rahl in charge.

Answer: True

This was part of the bond that was devised by Richard's ancestors.
10. Who are the first people to die from the plague?

Answer: Children

Jagang thinks that the strongest way to upset Richard is to start the plague in the most innocent life-forms there are.
11. How was Darken Rahl affected physically when Zedd killed his father with Wizard's fire?

Answer: He was left with a horrible scar on his torso.

He is left with a mutilating scar on his side which is humiliating to him by making him appear weak, yet it acts as a reminder that he needs to destroy the First Wizard.
12. Who is the oldest living Rahl?

Answer: Nathan

Nathan was a prophet in the Palace of the Prophets, a place which slowed aging. By the events in the series, Nathan is over 1000 years old!
13. What are the Pillars of Creation?

Answer: The Ungifted Offspring of the House of Rahl

To create a balance in his bond to protect the D'Haran people, Richard's ancestor made sure that he could only provide one gifted ofspring. As a result the other offspring are pristinely ungifted meaning that they cannot see magic. They are named this because they have the power to wipe magic out of the world, since if they give birth they will carry these traits as well.

The Pillars of Creation is also the name of a very hot place in the Old World where no one is meant to survive if they go in.
14. Finish this quote: "Your life is yours alone, rise up__________"

Answer: and live it

In 'Faith of the Fallen', when Nicci takes Richard to the Old World he is asked to carve a horrendous statue out of marble. In defiance, Richard builds a beautiful statue with the those worlds carved on it. This is one of my favourite moments in the series.
15. Why are there no male Confessors?

Answer: They are murdered at birth by their fathers

If a male child is born, the mother has to order the husband to kill the child. This barbaric rule comes from the dark times where male Confessors took advantage of their power and went on a rampage. Only females are allowed to live since they are more controlled in their powers.
