"Divergent"- In this book, Beatrice chooses a new faction. She then trains to stay in her new faction, trying to be at the head of her class.

"Insurgent"- In this book, Beatrice is in the middle of a war between the different factions.

"Allegiant"- In this book, Beatrice and some of her friends leave their home in order to try and save the outside world. Instead, they learn that they are an experiment, and end up having to save their own home.

Beatrice has one sibling, a brother named Caleb. Despite their father's wishes, both Beatrice and Caleb move to new factions. The entire family is never together again after the day that Beatrice changes her faction, but she does see each member at least one more time.

Beatrice's aptitude test is administered by Tori Wu, who is a Dauntless tattoo artist. When Beatrice learns that she is a Divergent, Tori purposely hides the information from those who are in charge. The three travel to Amity headquarters, where they recruit Will's sister Cara and another Erudite defector, Fernando.

When Cara originally gives her list of people to go with her, she wants Beatrice, Tori, Tobias, Christina, Peter, and Zeke. However, when Zeke says he can't go and leave Shauna behind, Uriah gladly takes his place. Meanwhile, Caleb is to be executed for being so helpful to Jeanine. Tobias rescues him, but makes him leave the city with them.
