Fishman Island is the first island all pirates go to if they want to enter the New World. The only other humanly possible way to get to the New World is to go through Mariejois, but since they are pirates, they cannot do that. (Technically, you could climb over the Red Wall, but that would be too difficult, and they would have to leave their ship behind.)

SAD was a material used to create SMILEs, where were artificial Devil Fruits sold by Donquixote Doflamingo. Kaido was the biggest buyers. Law had the goal of turning the New World upside down, as Kaido would destroy Doflamingo if SMILEs were no longer being made.

Momonosuke found an Artificial Devil Fruit made by Vegapunk when he was wandering inside the building. He found a fruit which he didn't know was a Devil Fruit and ate it. Luffy at first mistakes him as an eel.

It is revealed that the toys are in fact people who oppose Donquixote Doflamingo turned into toys through the Toy Fruit.
