Toward the end of the book, she does ponder applying for a job at the FBI but soon gets a better idea.

And Hannah dislikes him even more because of the way he disappeared and broke Carolyn's heart. When Gray reappears, she threatens to kill or harm him on several occasions.

Kate is the vampire who abducted Gray and made him into a vampire.

Deirdre (Dee) is one of the Guardians who watches Gray.

The Guardians of the Night, led by Eli, is an organization of vampires who are not Killers. They hunt and destroy Killers, rescue fledgling vampires and try to save them from becoming Killers.

Gray was asked to join the Guardians after they had rescued him from his maker, but he declined. However, they provide lamb's blood for Gray and watch him to make sure he doesn't kill again.

Drake does happen to be older and stronger than most of the Guardians, but that's not their main reason for disliking him.

Most of the Guardians are mistrustful and fearful of Drake because he's a Killer, not a Guardian. He has been brought in by Eli, the head of the Guardians, to help track down the Broad Street Banger. Some of them suspect that Drake himself is the Banger.

Although Drake is a Killer, he follows his own moral code in that he only kills evil people, which makes him a vigilante, and arguably less evil than a vampire serial killer like the Banger.

Carolyn is able to lift a fingerprint from the letter to Gray, and another matching one off the door to Gray's apartment. First she checks them against local police and FBI records but does not find a match.

On a hunch, she decides to look for something older and more historical. In Chapter 17, she finds a company online called "Origins" which tests old paintings and artwork for fingerprints in order to identify painters, collectors, former owners.

Incredibly, Origins finds her a match: the late Archibald Montgomery, a wealthy collector of Impressionist paintings. She and Hannah then start going through property records and deeds to see which residences he owned.

Answer: They can only survive by drinking human blood.

In this book, vampires don't necessarily need human blood to survive. They can survive on animal blood. Gray, and the Guardians, drink a mixture of lamb's blood and milk. The blood keeps them alive, and the purpose of the milk is to prevent enjoyment of the blood, which might trigger a desire to kill.

The other three things are true.

Deirdre has been secretly helping Archer Montgomery (the Banger). In Chapter 18, she reveals to Gray and Carolyn that she had infiltrated the Guardians and had deliberately been sowing the seeds of unrest in order to destroy the organization and make Philadelphia safe for Killers again.

She and Archer want Gray to join them. In Chapter 20, Dierdre and Archer try to convince Gray to give in to his urges and kill. They believe that it's their nature - and their right - to kill, because they are predators, like wolves and lions. Deirdre mentions that she felt sorry for Gray because of the way the Guardians have been treating him, and she genuinely believes that she is offering him a better life.
