Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Lets start off with an easy one. How does Lockwood fit into the story?

Answer: He's the new tenant at Thrushcross Grange

Lockwood came as Heathcliff's new tenant at the Grange. He didn't stay for very long, though.
2. What does Catherine ask her father to bring her back from Liverpool?

Answer: a whip

Catherine asked for a whip, Hindley asked for a fiddle, and Mr. Earnshaw said that he was going to bring back apples and pears for Nelly. However, instead of getting what they wanted, they got Heathcliff!
3. What does Catherine do when she firsts meets Heathcliff?

Answer: Spits at him

Catherine and Hindley weren't too impressed when their father brought home Heathcliff. Hindley never gets over his disliking of Heathcliff. Catherine, on the other hand, is a completely different story.
4. What does Heathcliff use to keep track of the days that Catherine has spent with him?

Answer: dots

He uses dots for the days that Catherine has spent with him and crosses for the days that she has spent with the Lintons.
5. Which of these is not a reason Catherine gives for wanting to marry Edgar?

Answer: He's her soulmate

That should have been an easy one. Heathcliff is Catherine's soulmate, not Edgar!
6. When Heathcliff runs away, how long is he gone for?

Answer: three years

It's a mystery as to where he went!
7. Why does Isabella marry Heathcliff?

Answer: She loves him

Isabella gets over her love pretty fast after she sees what Heathcliff is really like.
8. Finish this quote: "I cannot live without my life! I cannot live without my ______"

Answer: soul

This is said by Heathcliff after Catherine dies.
9. How old is Cathy the first time she has an encounter with Heathcliff?

Answer: sixteen

Cathy had been to Wuthering Heights several years before, but she didn't meet Heathcliff until her sixteenth birthday.
10. Relationships don't seem to turn out overly well in "Wuthering Heights." Which couple finally gets their happy ending?

Answer: Hareton and Cathy

Hareton and Cathy are really the only ones that make sense, considering that by the end of the book all the other characters that I mentioned are dead!
