"A Bug's Life" Part One Trivia Quiz

Flik invents a machine that can cut down entire stalks of food to speed up the gathering of the food for the grasshoppers. He also invents a telescope that the queen or princess can use to watch over the kingdom. Most of the ants do not like Flik's inventions.

Atta is the heavily stressed out princess of the colony, trying to learn to become the new queen. The current queen tells her to relax, saying that the grasshoppers will just come, eat, and leave, and that it's no big deal.

At the end of the movie, there is a blooper reel of outtakes, including an outtake in which one of the actresses accidentally calls her "Abba" then bursts out laughing.

Answer: Flik and Dot

Flik is an intelligent ant who invents things. Dot is a young female ant and she can't fly at the beginning of the movie. They both get scolded by other ants throughout the movie. They befriend each other because Dot is the only one who likes Flik and his inventions and ideas and Flik convinces her to be okay with not being able to fly because she's still just a kid.

When the grasshoppers come, Flik, weighed down by one of his inventions, is the last to get the food to the offering stone and then get himself in the ant hill. After he puts the food on the stone, he takes off his machine and places it near the stone.

However, he makes a grave mistake by not turning it off. As a result, the machine knocks the stone over and causes the food to fall in the water. Flik tries to tell Atta what happened. Atta doesn't listen, but when all the ants hear the grasshopper asking where the food is, and after the grasshoppers break into the ant hill and tell them they must collect twice as much food before the last leaf falls in the winter, all the ants except Dot get REALLY mad at Flik.

Answer: Hopper

Hopper is the biggest grasshopper, and therefore the leader of the gang. When the grasshoppers come to Ant Island to find that there is no food for them, they break into the ant hill to find out why. Hopper then learns that there's about to be a new queen ant, and he blames Atta for the lack of food. Atta tries to tell Hopper that it was Flik's fault, but Hopper tells Atta that the first rule of leadership is that everything is her fault. Hopper then makes the ants collect twice as much food for the winter as they were supposed to collect during the summer.

Answer: Molt

Molt has a knack for saying things that bring comedy into the movie, but these things also anger Hopper. Molt hates Hopper at least as much as the ants do. Molt's life gets better at the end of the movie.

When the grasshoppers leave, Flik goes on trial for making the food disappear. Flik apologizes, but they don't accept his apology. Flik then comes up with an idea to go to the island across the canyon to find large warrior bugs who will fight off the grasshoppers.

The other ants think this is a crazy idea at first, but then they agree to let him do this so that he will be off the island. They think he will never find any warrior bugs who would be willing to help the ants so they think they are getting rid of him forever.

As he walks away, the ants cheer.

Since it's almost winter, there isn't enough food on the island for the ants to collect food for themselves and for the grasshoppers. They try, but they keep collapsing due to exhaustion.

P.T. Flea is the leader of a failing circus. When all his employees fail to entertain the audience and get in fights with the audience, and when their final act doesn't go as planned, P.T. Flea fires everyone.

Answer: Warriors

When Flik first meets them, he sees them pretending to be Robin Hood and his merry men so they can fight off a group of flies who were bullying them. Flik thinks that the act is real, and he hires them to fight the grasshoppers. They think he's hiring them to perform at a banquet so they accept the job.

When they come to Ant Island, the other ants think that they are warrior bugs because they are big, because that's what Flik said he'd bring to the island, and because the ladybug said that the when the grasshopper came, the circus bugs were going to "knock them dead"! The ladybug meant that figuratively as in they were going to put on a great show, but the ants took that literally and they celebrated the freedom that they thought the "warrior bugs" would bring them.
