Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In what part of London do the Ripper murders take place?

Answer: Whitechapel

During 1888, the Whitechapel district of London was the primary location of "unfortunates" or prostitutes.
2. Who do the circle of friends (the group of prostitutes) initially suspect of committing the murders?

Answer: McQueen

McQueen demands one pound per week from each girl in exchange for his protection. He threatens Mary with death if payment is not made on time.
3. What does Jack the Ripper use to lure the girls to him?

Answer: Grapes

Inspector Abberline notices that all of the bodies are found near an empty sprig of grapes. Because grapes are an expensive luxury that no one in the White Chapel district could afford, he suspects someone of money of being the murderer.
4. Ann Crook was taken away and later located in Maryville Workhouse. What happened to her?

Answer: She had a frontal lobotomy.

Ann was taken and lobotomized, so that no one would ever believe her when she said she was married to the Prince.
5. What was the name of the organization that the following individuals belonged to: Sir William Gull, Sir Charles Warren, Dr. Ferral, Special Branch Inspector Ben Kidney?

Answer: The Freemasons

We see Dr. Ferral get initiated into the Freemasons and as the movie closes, it is alleged that they were closely involved in the Ripper murders and cover-up.
6. Sergeant Godley knows of Inspector Abberline's hidden talent. What is it?

Answer: He has visions.

Inspector Abberline is seen frequently smoking opium and ingesting laudanum (a syrup containing opium) to assist in bringing on his visions.
7. What drink does Inspector Abberline suspect the Ripper uses, along with the grapes, to subdue the women?

Answer: Absinthe

At one point, we even see Inspector Abberline ingesting Absinthe that is laced with laudanum.
8. According to the film, Prince Albert is Jack the Ripper.

Answer: False

Prince Albert is being treated by Sir William Gull for syphilis. One of the effects of syphilis includes hand tremors. As we see during the presentation of John Merrick (a.k.a. the Elephant Man), Prince Albert has a terrible hand tremor, due to his syphilis, and can barely sign his name to a check for a donation.

Therefore, as Sir William Gull states to Inspector Abberline, Prince Albert could never dissect the bodies as the real murderer does.
9. What allegedly happens to the real murderer?

Answer: He has a frontal lobotomy.

We see that Sir William Gull, the alleged perpetrator of the murders, is lobotomized and locked away after the Freemasons and the Queen believe that the last witness to the catholic marriage of her son has been killed.
10. Inspector Abberline leaves London after six months and joins Mary in Ireland.

Answer: False

Inspector Abberline knows that he will always be followed and does not dare to contact Mary Kelly in any way, because he knows that once he does, she will be killed. In the end, we see Inspector Abberline die in an opium den.
