Aladdin's mother died when he was really young, Genie and Jafar both were there in "Aladdin" and "The Return of Jafar". So with that you were left with his father, Cassim, who was the King of Thieves (the Forty Thieves to be exact). You first saw Aladdin's father when he was plotting to ruin Aladdin's wedding just a few minutes before it happened.

He was outside the palace and had his fellow thieves hidden among the things that were to be brought into the palace. They were looking for the oracle, which Aladdin's father said was the key to finding the ultimate treasure.

When the Forty Thieves attacked, everyone went into fight mode. Genie grew bigger and grabbed the first thing he could get his hands on which just happened to be an elephant. He used the trunk to blow away some of the thieves and then he got all commando and said "Don't make me use the other end!"

Aladdin and everyone else realized what the thieves were after. They awakened the Oracle, that was within a magic wand of sorts, she said that they could ask one question. Jasmine pointed out they could learn about their pasts and their futures. Aladdin said his future was Jasmine, but he wished he knew anything at all about his family.

The Oracle said that any questions he may have, could be answered by his father. Aladdin was stunned to hear his father was alive and trapped within the world of the forty thieves.

Aladdin seemed to believe that his father walked out on him and his mother. This was not true, however. Cassim had left, but it was in search of a better life for himself and his family. He had refused to go back to his family empty handed, so he stayed away longer and longer, until one night he had come back to Agrabah and found that his family had disappeared.

Yeah, it was inevitable that they would get married in the end. After everything was fixed with Cassim and all the problems were resolved Aladdin and Jasmine got married, with Cassim watching.

The Forty Thieves had drugged the elephants and then one of them stuck the elephants in the rear with really sharp points. The drugged elephants, being stuck with sharp points started a stampede. It was not a pretty scene adn the entire wedding area was ruined and completely trashed with rubble everywhere.

After Cassim had been caught trying to break into the treasure room to steal the oracle, he was sent into the dungeons. Aladdin, not wanting that for his father, dressed in his clothing and went to break him out. This worked pretty well until he got caught himself.

When they realized he wasn't the King of Thieves, they called him the Prince of Thieves. They decided they were going to haul him before the sultan and see if he still wanted him in his family. Then out of nowhere Cassim came crashing down on them, yelling at them to keep their hands off his son.

The two of them, plus Iago, ran for it but halfway from the city Aladdin doubled back saying he couldn't leave Jasmine the way Cassim left his family.

Iago had been caught and put in the dungeon with Cassim. When Cassim escaped and ran for it Aladdin decided that Iago should go with him to watch over him. When they got back to the cave, only a couple of the thieves were left because the others had been captured.

They blamed Cassim for the others being captured and took a hold of him. Cassim, after all that had happened back in Agrabah, had taken the Oracle somehow and they took it from him. Iago managed to get free of the bindings to warn Aladdin that the other thieves had Cassim. Aladdin at first didn't care but after Jasmine talked to him about how father's are really important, Aladdin decided it was time for a rescue mission.

The Vanishing Isle was where the Oracle said that they would find the Hand of Midas. The Hand of Midas was known as the ultimate treasure, because anything it touched turned to gold. The vanishing isle was also said to never appear in the same place twice.

Cassim realized that all the money and gold in the world could not replace his son. He really loved his son and he sacrificed the Hand of Midas for him. Cassim realized that his so called ultimate treasure had almost cost him Aladdin's life, because one of the thieves almost killed Aladdin to get the hand.

The minute they got out of the building on the turtle's back, Cassim took the Hand of Midas and threw it out into the ocean. Oddly enough, the remaining Forty Thieves had been on a boat anchored out on the ocean.

When Cassim threw the Hand of Midas it landed on the boat turning it into solid gold and sinking it.
