Although "Jersey Girl" uses many repeat cast members, it is a separate entity based on Kevin Smith's experiences as a new father. Kevin Smith's films in the "Jersey Chronicles" started with his first film, "Clerks" and went from there with "Mallrats", "Chasing Amy", "Dogma", "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back", and "Clerks II".
