Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of the following Kevin Smith films does NOT follow the "Jersey Chronicles" timeline?

Answer: Jersey Girl

Although "Jersey Girl" uses many repeat cast members, it is a separate entity based on Kevin Smith's experiences as a new father. Kevin Smith's films in the "Jersey Chronicles" started with his first film, "Clerks" and went from there with "Mallrats", "Chasing Amy", "Dogma", "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back", and "Clerks II". All films in the "Jersey Chronicles" relate to each other through characters and events.
2. Which two "Star Wars" cast members had small parts in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back"?

Answer: Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher

This was the first film that Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Fisher (Princess Leia) both appeared in since "Return of The Jedi". Their scenes, however, in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" were at complete opposite ends of the film and not together. Carrie Fisher was a nun at the beginning who picks up Jay and Bob hitchhiking, and Mark Hamill was the comic book villain at the end of the film. Neither Hamill nor Fisher knew that the other was in the movie until after filming was completed.
3. What is the chronological order for the films in the "Askewniverse" based on the common events?

Answer: Mallrats, Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks II

Although "Clerks" was made first, the events in "Mallrats" are set as happening the day before. Evidence of this is the time of the death and funeral of the character Julie Dwyer. "Chasing Amy" makes reference to "Clerks" as being in the past. In "Dogma", Jay and Bob make reference to themselves in "Chasing Amy". "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" has repeat characters from all the previous films. "Clerks II" is clearly the last film in the series with the burning of Qwik Stop Grocery which is in all the other films.
4. What is the name of the comic book studio that produces the comic 'Bluntman and Chronic' in "Chasing Amy"?

Answer: Bank Hold-up

'Bluntman and Chronic' are drawn by Banky Edwards (Jason Lee) and Holden McNeil (Ben Affleck). The name of their comic studio is on a sign in the lobby of their building and Affleck uses it in a scene where he is answering the phone.
5. Which of these was not a character played by Ben Affleck in the "Jersey Chronicles"?

Answer: Randal Graves

Ben Affleck played Shannon Hamilton in "Mallrats"; Holden McNeil in "Chasing Amy" and "Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back"; Bartleby in "Dogma"; Himself in "Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back"; and had a cameo as a gawking customer in "Clerks II". Randal Graves was a video store clerk in "Clerks" played by Jeff Anderson, who was a high school friend of writer/director Kevin Smith.
6. Which "American Pie 2" star did not make an appearance in "Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back"?

Answer: Tara Reid

Sean William Scott plays "Stifler" in "American Pie 2", and "Brent" in "Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back"; Jason Biggs plays "Jim" in "American Pie 2", and Himself in "JASBSB"; and Eli Marienthal plays "Stifler's brother" in "American Pie 2", and in "JASBSB" he is one of the internet kids who gets beaten up by Jay and Bob at the end of the film. Tara Reid, "Vicky" in "American Pie 2", had absolutely nothing to do with "Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back".
7. In the film "Dogma", Silent Bob (Kevin Smith) throws Bartleby (Ben Affleck) and Loki (Matt Damon) off a train when they attack Bethany (Linda Fiorentino). After he does this, Silent Bob looks at a stunned passenger and says "No ticket". What film is this a reference to?

Answer: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

Although Kevin Smith's films contain many references to "Jaws" and "Star Wars", this one is from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" when Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) throws a Nazi soldier off the zeppelin.
8. "Mallrats" star Jeremy London had the lead role in "Dazed and Confused" (Randall "Pink" Floyd) a year before playing T.S. Quint.

Answer: False

In "Dazed and Confused", Randall "Pink" Floyd was played by Jeremy's twin brother Jason London. On a side note, it is rumored that "Dazed" was where Ben Affleck first met Jason Lee. "Dazed and Confused" follows a group of high school students through the last day of school and the party that follows that night.
9. In "Clerks", the anti-smoking activist is actually a sales representative for what?

Answer: Chewlies Gum

The sales rep would convince each customer not to buy cigarettes but to choose another option instead, always recommending gum. Kevin Smith uses fictional brands or none at all for products in his movie. Some examples are Chewlies gum and "the soft stuff" toilet paper. In addition, all customers simply order "a pack of cigarettes".
10. Whose real life brother played a comic book fan at the comic convention in the beginning of the film "Chasing Amy"?

Answer: Ben Affleck

Casey Affleck plays one of two comic book fans (the other is played by producer Scott Mosier), who accuse Banky (Jason Lee) of being nothing more that a tracer. They say the real artist behind the comic book is Holden McNeil (Ben Affleck).
