Unfortunately for Whittier (who is played by Anne Judson-Yager), none of the other students seem overly willing to help her. This includes Penelope (played by Felicia Day), who picks Whittier up for referring to herself and her friends as "girls" before advising Whittier, "We can't direct you to Bancroft Hall, because Nathaniel Bancroft was a slave owner and an imperialist." Luckily for Whittier her friend and roommate Monica (played by Faune Chambers Watkins) turns up and takes her to their accommodation at Bancroft Hall.

Answer: California State College

The initials 'CSC' are seen throughout the movie, primarily on the cheerleaders' outfits. We are shown what these initials stand for near the beginning of the movie. As the camera pans to Dean Sebastian (played by Kevin Cooney), who is giving his welcome speech to the new students, a banner can be seen in the background welcoming freshmen to 'California State College Orientation Week'.

Answer: The football team

Dean Sebastian continues, "Fortunately, we haven't had to cut any money from our two prized programs, the football team, and your seven-time defending collegiate champion Stinger cheerleading squad."

Answer: Her belly ring

The much more chilled out Monica tries to reassure her, "It's a cheerleading tryout. They're going to be looking at your moves, not your body jewellery," to which Whittier replies, "I know, but here's my theory - if they concentrate on my belly, they won't recognize if I mess up on my back handsprings." During the subsequent tryout scene we see that Whittier's decision should have definitely been "no belly ring".

Answer: Marni

Clearly feeling threatened by the obviously talented freshman, Marni (played by Bethany Joy Lenz) resorts to childish insults of her new rival, Whittier. Tina (played by Bree Turner) tells Marni and Greg (played by Bryce Johnson) to leave. Once they have gone, Dean Sebastian comes in, advises Tina that he has been watching the entire tryout, and refers to Whittier as "State's next head cheerleader".

Answer: Whatever it takes

As Dean Sebastian is talking to Tina after the cheerleading tryouts, he asks Tina to recall the school motto, to which she replies, "Whatever it takes." We can see from this interaction that Tina feels under a lot of pressure to maintain a successful and winning cheerleading team, which perhaps goes some way to explaining why she is not the most amiable of leaders when it comes to her squad.

Answer: Go for a night-time swim in the outdoor pool

Whittier met Derek (played by Richard Lee Jackson) during Dean Sebastian's welcome speech to the new students, and there was clearly some chemistry between them. After agreeing to "do something illegal", Whittier follows Derek to the outdoor pool, where they find out a little more about each other, and enjoy a brief swim and a fleeting embrace before Whittier takes her leave.

Tina has framed pictures of Dwight D Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan and George W Bush on her desk, and on turning them round to show Whittier, refers to them as "the three greatest Presidents of the last two hundred years... all cheerleaders". Whittier questions, "Was Ronald Reagan really one of the top three?", to which Tina quickly responds, "Top 40," and quickly turns the picture of Reagan back round again!

Answer: Hammersmith

When we first meet Tina as she leads her cheerleading squad in a brief routine at the fresher orientation, we hear her introduce herself as Tina Hammersmith. The seven portraits on the lower row on the wall contain pictures of Tina's five sisters and Tina herself. Tina then advises Whittier, "That last empty frame right there is reserved for the head cheerleader who will take our place, our next leader," which she then goes on to suggest could be Whittier.

Answer: Sammy Stinger

It is halftime during the football game between the Stingers and Willowcrest, and we see the college band, cheerleading squad and mascot in the tunnel preparing to take to the field for the halftime show. The mascot clearly feels a lot of weight on his shoulders, advising Monica that, "I got to go out there first, just me, solo. And if these people don't buy into the whole illusion of who I am and what I represent, you guys are toast." We then see him trying to psych himself before the PA announces, "Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to Sammy Stinger and your Stinger cheerleaders."
