Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the opening text of the movie it is explained, 'this film you are about to see was originally released in 1954. Upstaged by the overwhelming popularity of...' What is the name of the film that upstaged 'Cannibal! The Musical'?

Answer: 'Oklahoma!'

All four films were released in 1954 but it was 'Oklahoma!' that is mentioned in the text. The joke, of course, is that it is totally untrue as 'Cannibal! The Musical' was made in 1993.
2. What is the name of Alferd Packer's horse?

Answer: Lianne

Trey had decided to write the trailer to 'Cannibal! The Musical' for his 16mm Film School project. The entire trailer was built around songs Trey had written about his ex-fiance, Lianne. Trey was to play the title role of Alferd Packer, who happened, in the trailer, to have a beloved horse named Lianne. Packer has a love obsession with his frisky horse, who lets every man in town ride her. Trey claims the only reason he wanted to shoot the thing was to get the line 'Hi, my name is Alferd Packer, and this is my horse, Lianne,' on film.

In doing so he launched himself, by inadvertently showing off his talents for composing, singing, dancing, writing, directing, and acting.
3. Where did the trial of Alferd Packer take place in the movie?

Answer: Lake City, Colorado

The trial took place in Lake City, Colorado and was filmed in the actual courtroom that the real Alferd Packer was tried in. Randy Parker, who is the father of Trey Parker, plays the judge.
4. Not including the overtures on the opening credits, what is the first song of the film called?

Answer: 'Spadoinkle Day'

Trey wrote the lyrics 'The sky is blue and all the leaves are green, my heart's as full as a baked potato. I think you know exactly how I feel, when I say it's a ? day.' He liked the lyrics so much, but he just couldn't think of what type of day it should be so he just jotted down 'Spadoinkle' as a nonsensical word to be replaced.

When he sung it back to Matt Stone and the other actor producers they liked the word 'Spadoinkle' so much they decided to leave it in. Thus the word 'Spadoinkle' was born.
5. From which song in the movie are the opening lyrics 'She'll never know what she meant to me...'?

Answer: 'Ode To Lianne'

When Trey sings the song 'Ode To Lianne' they are camped out round a fire. The shoot for this scene was actually done in someone's back yard who apparently got drunk and chased them with a gun. Trey is likened to Paul Stanley in this song. This is Trey's favourite song in the movie and is written wholly about Lianne.
6. Which character sings 'This Side of Me'?

Answer: Polly Prye

During the casting of Polly Prye, Jason McHugh attempted to read opposite her while Trey attempted to videotape the scene. Every time they started the scene, Trey would start laughing or Jason would. Eventually they overcame their focus problems and laughing attacks and made it through the audition. Moments after the actress left them in their little office, Trey described to Jason how upon initial eye contact, he envisioned the actress as a skeleton of herself.

This had clearly freaked him out. Such are the vagaries of the casting process. Trey then proceeded to tell Jason that throughout the audition he had a vision of Toddy in the leading role.

The next day, Toddy Walters happily accepted the part of Polly Prye! It is probably best to mention that Jason and Trey had dropped acid the day they auditioned for this role.
7. What type of animal does the Cyclops keep?

Answer: sheep

The Cyclops is actually played by one of the trappers in a different costume and the puss that shoots from his dead eye is actually cream soda. A scene was cut where the Cyclops chases the miners and hits his genitals on a rock, thus allowing the miners to escape. The scene was cut as it was assumed the miners would just run away.
8. In the movie who really went mad and killed everyone?

Answer: Bell

If you didn't already know, Alferd Packer was a real person. In fact, he is the only person in American history to be tried and convicted of Cannibalism. Alferd, in fact, told the authorities that he went off to try and find another group and when he returned, Bell had gone mad and killed everyone. Trey decided to go down that avenue with the film because that's what he believes actually happened and Alferd Packer was wrongly convicted and almost hanged. Whether that's the truth or not, no one will ever know.
9. Who does Alferd Packer eventually give Lianne to?

Answer: The Chief

The Chief accepts Alferd Packer's gift and produces his Samurai and walks off screen. Hilarious. That was Trey's way of saying he was finished with Lianne and he could carry on without her. In a strange twist Trey started dating Toddy Walters who plays Polly Prye for 8 years after meeting on the set of 'Cannibal! The Musical'.
10. What appears at the end of the movie after the credits have rolled?

Answer: A warning about the content for young children

A last minute joke just put in for those who sat through the entire credit roll. Did you see it? On the whole, not a bad attempt for a bunch of film students and {$125,000.}
