"Seabiscuit" was a seven times Oscar nominated movie directed by Gary Ross and starred Jeff Bridges and Tobey Maguire. It told the story of Seabiscuit, a racehorse which was taken into the American public's hearts during the 1930s.

"Kill Bill" is basically a story of revenge. The story tells of how after being left for dead a female assassin, known as "The Bride" sets out to settle the score. It was directed by cult director Quentin Tarantino and featured Uma Thurman as "The Bride". As Tarantino was a friend and great admirer of Uma Thurman he offered her the part as a 30th birthday present and even went as far as to delay the production of the movie as Uma was pregnant at the time.

"Gladiator" was a five time Oscar winning movie from 2000. It was directed by Ridley Scott and starred Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix. It was set in ancient Rome and told the story of Maximus (a General) who is reduced in status to a gladiator who in turn brings about the downfall of the Emperor. This would be British actor Oliver Reed's last role as he died on set of a heart attack. Crowe was not the first choice as the lead in "Gladiator", Mel Gibson was offered Russell Crowe's part as Maximus but turned it down.

"Gangs of New York" was directed by Martin Scorsese and starred Daniel Day-Lewis and Leonardo DiCaprio. This is yet another revenge movie. It is set in an area of New York known as "The Five Points". It tells the story of orphan Amsterdam Vallon who returns to take revenge for the murder of his father. It was nominated for 10 Oscars but without success. It did however win a BAFTA Film Award for Daniel Day-Lewis who said that whilst looking for inspiration and preparing for the role of Bill 'The Butcher' Cutting he listened to music by Eminem.
